born in miami, florida to japanese-american parents, calista was an only child and grew up very poor. she was primarily raised by neighbours as her parents were always working to make sure they could provide for her, and her attitude very heavily reflects that. in middle school, she got very interested in k-pop and wanted to become an idol, participating in a global audition before being accepted. she was a member of the girl group daydream only for a few months, when they skyrocketed in popularity during their first comeback. once the allegations came out that calista was sleeping with the ceo of the company, they terminated her contract and abandoned her, and she took them to court to fight. winning the case, it came out that the allegations were false, leaked by the leader of the daydream herself to throw the trail off of her relationship with the ceo, and soon many fans who didn't believe these rumours in the first place were begging for calista to come back. she was reached out to by citrus to restart her career.
