juyeon grew up in a middle-class family as the adopted, only child to two social worker moms. his hometown and upbringing were quiet, yet rich in the nectar of friendship and community. his public school education allowed him to adopt a keen eye and affinity for public policy and normative ethics. the muse of his parents' careers on social work bled onto him a bit as he sought out different after school clubs in volunteer work as a young child. though a textbook introvert, juyeon made many friends who saw in him a heart of gold enveloped in a canopy of someone who could do with talking just a bit more. he was just a kid, after all.

one could argue that juyeon adopted more of a rebellious and vocal demeanor into the length of his adolescence. his teenage years were spent volunteering at shelters for the unhoused and getting into scuffles with other teenage boys over his family's financial status. was juyeon's family poor? or were the other kids too rich to see the chasm separating the two of them, blinding their vision of an obvious class divide. teenage juyeon received a handful of detentions for hitting other students when they harassed him, either due to his perceived financial standing or the fact that both of his parents were women.
 
adulthood.

though tempted to follow in his mothers' footsteps, juyeon instead flirted with the prospect of education as a career path. the pay was pittance, union organization was scant in that industry, and treatment is nothing short of abysmal. however, juyeon enjoyed the outcome of teaching someone something and then watching them prosper in their respective communities. he now teaches social studies at one of the bigger public high schools in the seoul metropolitan area. he attendings community forums and always recommends that the city put in more funding for public schooling, an endeavor that has yet to bear fruit since the 2010s in korea. his demeanor as an adult is now someone a bit quiet, relaxed, but not shy to words that reach him well. juyeon has a no-nonsense calmness about him, which makes him perfect for dealing with teenagers at his job.
