Queen never cry. >:|8 Devi is independent and loyal to those she loves. She incredibly protective and will bark at you if you try to touch anybody she cares about. However, it's a bit difficult to get close to Devi, as she keeps people at arm's length. She doesn't let just anybody get close to her and has a knack for drawing boundaries. Professionally, this makes her a strong communicator and a reliable person to work with. Personally, it's difficult for Devi to be vulnerable and accept care from others, as she's always been independent even when she was young. She's very selective about who she lets in, but those who she's close with know they have her unrelenting loyalty until the end.
Background —
Devi was 13 when she joined Studio Danz and followed Leilani from Bangkok to Korea when the company moved in 2019. Before she was SDZ's Devi, she was just Devi, a bright young girl who was having trouble coping with the divorce of her parents. Her older sister went to live with her father while Devi found it difficult to leave her mother all by herself. Even as a child, Devi was self-reliant and took on household responsibilities, splitting them with her mother who supported the two of them as she studied to the top of her class. To her family, Devi was the "good child" who maintained good grades and acted as an emotional buffer between family members who didn't get along. She internalized her emotions and began to express herself through dance, a passion she found at school while goofing off with friends. Dance was hobby that went from imitating dances just for fun to self expression. She found herself putting herself out there to street competitions even when she was hardly a tween and that was when she discovered Leilani, who would become everything she wanted to be.

Devi was among the first students to join Studio Danz. She might as well revere Lani as a god in her eyes. She wanted to learn everything Lani had to offer and would follow her like a little duckling following her mother. When the company was set to relocate to Korea, Devi was determined to join her no matter what the cost. Her mother understood what SDZ was to Devi and, although her heart was broken from the idea of letting her baby go somewhere so far away, she was supportive of her daughter following her dreams. Devi's father, on the other hand, refused to support her moving to Korea and tried to talk her out of it even though he was hardly in her life anymore. Luckily for Devi, she had a good head on her shoulders and figured out the logistics herself between immigration, education, and finances. Studio Danz was where she was meant to be and there was nothing that could stop her from staying with the company.

Adjusting to life in Korea was difficult at first, but she was lucky to be surrounded by people she considered family. She poured her undivided dedication to SDZ, spending her nights and days at the studio improving herself to make sure that leaving home was worth it. Devi had something to prove and she sure proved it with her dedication and hard work! Although Devi had brushed up on the basics of Korean before moving, she still needed to learn enough to fully integrate herself in this country and attended a language school where she met and became friends with other foreigners and even found a little community of Thai immigrants who are the perfect circle of friends to meet with when she's homesick. Devi finished school online and by the time she was thinking about her higher education, she had become well versed in Korean and currently attends a Korean Arts university when she's not busy.

Today, Devi is a core member of SDZ as someone who's been there since the beginning. She shows her seniority with effortless synergy within the company and covers for Lani when she's unavailable. She could honestly see herself dancing and teaching like this forever. She wants to see SDZ thrive and succeed in the industry and has even begun taking a few business classes just to make sure she can support the studio in any way she can.

Quirks & Habits —
Devi has a playlist for everything. She has a morning playlist she wakes up to, a morning transit playlist, a wind-down to sleep playlist, you name it, she has it. These playlists range from task-based to weather to mood. When you walk into the studio on an early morning, it's very likely Devi who has a playlist blasting with new music to start the day with.

She incredibly meticulous and likes to clean. Everything she owns gets immediately color coded. She likes to collect cute stationary and sticky notes, even though she finds it hard to use. If Devi uses a cute sticky note on you, just know that she loves you enough to sacrifice one of her babies.

Devi loves spicy food and constantly asks to get her food as spicy as humanely possible. The restaurants she regulars at always know to make her meals what they call "Thai Spicy." Throughout the day, Devi is usually snacking on a protein shake or an energy bar so she can keep moving without getting tired. Her favorite snack to snack on are chili mangoes, which are always always always in her bag.

OOC —
About Me | Hi, my username is freckle! You can just address me as freckle. Those who do not know me personally may refer to me by they/them pronouns. I am 25+ years old and prefer not to roleplay with anybody under 22.
Preferences | Before jumping into writing, I like to plot with my writing partners, not only to understand each other's characters and our story together, but to get to know my writing partners as well. It's important to me that my writing partners are aware of my boundaries, time constraints, and priorities and vice versa in order to maintain an amicable collaboration.
In terms of writing, I prefer third pov para. I'm very flexible with my writing preferences, but I do ask for my writing partners to not only read and digest what I've written for them, but to also give me content that I can reply back to. This is not an issue I come across often, but I have come across writers who have completely ignored my writing, godmod the situation, and given me no room to continue the scene in character and I wish to not have to go through this again. If you have any trouble understanding the content of my writing or need some clarity, I am always available to clear things up even if you have to double or triple text me about it.
In terms of genre, I love anything from sweet and wholesome fluff to plates crashing against the wall angst, but the most important element to me is consent. I do not want to unknowingly walk into an angsty situation nor do I want to find myself cornered into fluff with someone who I did not have a prior discussion with. Please DM me if you want to discuss something.

Availability | I will try to drop in to touch base at least once a week with all of my writing partners. Please do not expect instant replies from me. I am a working adult. Even if my replies may take a while, I'll continue to keep you updated with a timeline so you know that I haven't forgotten about our thread.
