- finished from an art program at a prestigous university and was already working early jobs in the industry before graduation. a lot of his friends from university are still his close friends and not just work connections.
- he grew up with his mom and his younger sister, his father was a photographer and had passed away a decade earlier. he still left the love of photography to his children, with mingyu pursuing it professionally. his younger sister is a chef and his mother is a retired athlete living off of her wins, savings, and investments.
- his parents and seokmin's parents have been close since the two were children, with seokmin and mingyu even being born on the same year. the two friends grew up together and have always been close. mingyu sees seokmin as the brother he's never had, since he only grew up with a sister biologically. seokmin's basically family and mingyu's family to the lees as well. they know each other's home addresses and walk in like it's their own family home.

- way too focused on his work, but forces himself to still be social and act happy even when he's not. this leads to very regular burnout that he doesn't really tell anyone about.
- early on he'd deal with burnout and negative emotions via alcohol and (with former established fwbs). it was all done tastefully and in moderation (the alcohol part, not the ) that he still kept his respectful reputation professionally.

plot timeline / threads
(a) meeting at the paris fashion week after party, flirting, one night stand.
(b) the morning after in a panic, seokmin and seungwan have been out the whole night having their wholesome date in paris, not knowing their wards/best friends had slept with eachother, joy and mingyu get scolded.
(c) they are sat next to each other on the flight back to korea, eventually finding out pictures were taken of them going back to their paris hotel together.
(d) they start a fake romantic relationship for pr purposes since they both realised they'd be extremely powerful together, feelings develop.
(e) mingyu genuinely starts falling in love with joy at their first real project together, where he looks at her from behind his camera, seeing her in her element.
(f) they struggle to keep up the lie of being in love since they are in awkward crush mode, and people think that they're having a falling out. their close friends know everything.
(g) joy asks her friends for help, irene already kind of knows that joy is in love because she acted that way before ending up with her now-husband junmyeon.
(h) mingyu asks his friends from university for guidance, they roast him.
(i) they confess to eachother ... somehow, and all the bets their friends had been making in regards to who admits the love first to others and to their partner finally end. irene wins the bet within the girls' chat.
(j) mingyu in boyfriend mode, very protective of joy at an mv filming, with her food preferences while somewhat putting chan's life (idol stage name dino) in danger if he didn't comply with mingyu's requests to uphold joy's requests.
(k) scenario : sooyoung says 'gobble gobble' to mingyu in her grumpy voice after she returns home at 2am during seoul fashion week. she put her foot on mingyu's chest as he attempted to give her a nice foot massage and it ends with him eating her out as comfort.
