For as long as he knew, Gunwook had been a grim reaper. He was taught the basics: once you moved on from your last life, all memories were erased. Growing up, Seokjin rose through the ranks of academia with hard work and determination, gaining the trust of many influential figures in the court. However, because of this, many people became very jealous of his success and sought more immoral ways to rise through the ranks.

A close friend of Seokjin, someone known as Jung Minwoo, had secretly engaged in illicit dealings to gain wealth and influence. When his friend was quickly discovered, Minwoo devised a plan to shift the blame onto Seokjin—a trusted friend whose reputation for honesty and integrity could be manipulated against him.

Framed for the schemes, Seokjin lost his reputation and his ranking. Despite his fervent denials and attempts to uncover the truth, the powerful factions in the court sided with Minwoo's fabricated narrative. The betrayal by his friend and the weight of the false accusations destroyed Seokjin's spirit. Unable to find any way to clear or redeem his honor, Seokjin saw only one way out of the situation: taking his own life.
