brief background : narumi lived in a upper-middle class back in osaka, japan— her family supporting her just as much as one would expect. completely regular. the only problem is that, narumi has a hobby that she likes to keep hidden. and so when her previous workplace found out about it, the sense of horror made narumi run all the way across the sea of japan and into seoul, korea, to find a new job. perhaps narumi will be able to keep her laptop screen hidden this time.
— how many years of experience do you have in the industry?
about 6 years. after university i immediately got a job in a nearby company and had been working up until now.
— what was your reason going into the fashion business?
my sense of style is not particularly the most grand, though social media has certainly made it so my style is at least up to trend, especially here in korea— but i always find the people who work behind it fascinating. i wish i could be as creative as them!
— why work for elle over other magazines?
i remember when i was younger, asking my mother if she could buy an elle magazine for me. this was in japan, so, not exactly the same but— the magazine covers always made me excited. i wasn’t allowed to buy them since sometimes the material wasn’t suitable for my age— but id always love to look at the pictures over other magazines.
— tell us a fun project you’ve done/you’d like to do while working for the magazine
well, my job isn’t glamorous, but i feel that we can always make it a little more glamorous! perhaps if we keep in the theme of the office we could have our weekly meetings and newsletters be more in the style of a magazine debriefing?
