faceclaim and occupation: chae jonghyeop, actor
oc name: philip jin
position and department: creatives // photographer
brief background:
philip jin is one of the two children of an associate professor in cambridge school of art and a screenwriter for bbc. having followed his father's footsteps, philip majored in photography and occasionally dabbled in theater as a hobby. he had interned as a wildlife photographer for bbc for a year, freelanced for various local magazines before ultimately finding out his first love's whereabouts. upon hearing that she has joined elle, philip immediately left the great britain, coming home to korea to join the same company.
• how many years of experience do you have in the industry?
→ well, i have held a camera ever since i could remember to be honest. however, i have taken photos professionally ever for about 8 years now? i have been building my portfolio since i was in university and had been interning for professionals since then, as well. to say the least, i believe i am well-equipped to take quality photos for elle's editorials.
• what was your reason for going into fashion business?
→ i have not much explored my expertise when it comes to taking fashion shoots, if i were to be honest. oh, uhm — rather, i have not quite further expanded into such a scene. i have been called for multiple shoots for local magazines, none of them, however, were as grand as elle is. working in this environment may help me find my niche as a photographer, i believe.
• why work for elle, specifically, instead of other magazines?
→ (smiles widely, lying through my teeth) this is such an ambitious application, don't you think? for someone who claims to be mediocre in fashion shoots, an elle application seems too far-fetched. however, this may be me shooting for the stars as i try to build my reputation. elle, i truly believe, will bring me to where i want myself to be: at the top.
• tell us a fun project you've done/would like to do while in the company.
→ this may be a little odd of a request, but do you think we can have a shoot with actual wildlife? llamas are not as harmful, trust me. or — oh! a heritage shoot. quite like stylized traditional clothing designed by local artisans. it's a little bit cliche, but i am sure we can add twists to it.
