1. kim minjeong (winter), aespa
2. lee gyeoul
3. photographer, creative department
4. born and raised in busan, gyeoul comes from a family of artists. ever since she can remember, the young girl has always been surrounded by arts, whether it was painting, sculpting or crafting, even music. the faint but distinct scent of paint clinging to her hair, the silvery black shimmer of graphite on her hands, the sound of the shutter of a camera, they're all core memories of her childhood. taking part in competitions all throughout her childhood, it soon became clear that gyeoul (or winter as some of her friends would call her) too would follow her parent's footsteps of becoming a freelance artist. specializing in photography, it was during the last year of high school when a friend, aspiring to become a model, asked her to help her create a portfolio. one thing lead to another and months later, the two of them moved to seoul. through connections and recommendations, as well as her long list of achievements, winter was able to become an assistant for one of the most famous fashion photographers of south korea, before one year later she was able to snatch a contract with elle korea, becoming one of their exclusive photographers.
5. if we're talking about the photographing industry, i was kind of born into it. as for taking photos of models for the fashion industry, i think it's been about four years now? i've always liked fashion, but it was during high school when i got closer to a girl who wanted to become a model. i think it was her love for fashion that awakened something in me. i want the whole world to see what she made me see, that clothes aren't just clothes, that there's a story, an emotion behind every design. i want people to be able to fall in love with fashion the way i did. and where else to achieve that than here, at elle? even though there might be other magazines, i think that elle is the best! or maybe i'm just biased since i grew up reading elle? hehe. as for a project.....i think doing an editorial on x years of fashion would be fun?
