- three younger siblings, grew up with his paternal grandparents who had his father young. his father and mother sadly passed away in an accident soon after the youngest was born and wonpil was 6 years old. his grandfather passed away when wonpil was 21. his grandmother is still alive and runs a general store in their small town of pohang, up in the north gyeongsang province.
- wonpil wanted to be a teacher but ended up becoming a carpenter to support his family when his father and grandfather were both gone. he mostly designs and builds toys, visiting the children's hospital wing every two weeks like clockwork to make them happy. he's been nicknamed "wonpil claus" by the town.
- he dreams of actually living outside pohang, instead of just going to seoul and other cities outside for visits only. he knows he can't because of his grandmother. a part of him feels like he can't even abandon his younger siblings, even if they're all grown adults with jobs. they all urge him to leave because he actually can, financially, but he chooses not to. (secret: he's scared)
- one of the most parentified young single men in the town. so much so that people who aren't close to him or are new thought he was a single father or at least a kindergarten teacher. especially since he's friends with a lot of young parents because of his volunteer work, and he also calls them "his kids"

personality & notes

- likes to overexplain himself because he gets misunderstood way too much, for example, newcomers in town think he's a pushover just because he looks nice and is always a sweet older brother to the kids around town and to his own siblings. he is nice, but he's not a pushover. he's still the oldest brother and has grown up without his parents and grandfather, so he has a solid foundation.
- surprisingly stubborn and unsurprisingly very soft in a lot of ways. he speaks very softly and handles items with care, even his power tools. his family taught him that if you care for things, they last.
- gets mistaken a lot for a college student, so he dresses a bit "older" for his age. unfortunately, with the recent trends of grandpacore among the youth, it just gets worse. thankfully, he doesn't get id'd when purchasing alcohol in seoul that much... anymore.
