Wooyoung isn’t the type to fit a mold. Originally from a small commune on the outskirts of the clans, Wooyoung’s parents died when he was young, leading him to being shipped to his aunt in the Lan clan. He wanted to fit in with the clan to the best of abilities but that’s not the easiest thing to do when you’re already an outcast. Not only that but Wooyoung had lost the majority of his hearing in the accident, something he lives the rest of his life overcompensating for. His aunt tried to understand his situation and encourage his freedom, but not everyone else was as open minded. He’s an annoyance, a brat, smug and petulant. Always ready to pick a fight. Reckless and prone to emotional outbursts, Wooyoung is a loose cannon at best. What he tries to hide is the chip on his shoulder, the inferiority complex that hovers over him no matter where he goes.

Aeri and Wooyoung met when they were young and immediately hit it off. Spending nearly every day after school glued at the hip, Aeri and Wooy practically grew up together in her backyard treehouse, binging junk food and video games. If there’s someone to whom he considers himself closest, then that would definitely be the alpha. Despite being from different clans, that never stopped the two from getting along as kids when they attended the same school and now attending the same university. Aeri is easily one of his favorite people, and they care for each other in their own way. Their relationship is a symphony of mutual understanding and respect. Wooyoung is the emotional one, whereas Aeri is the strong, reliable sister he never had. Having so much in common makes their relationship natural and a no-brainer. They look out for each other. Wooyoung would die for her or kill if Aeri so much as asked him to. Namely, Wooyoung keeps Aeri from dying, and he relents when she asks him to look out for her annoying twin. If Aeri and Wooyoung were best friends at first sight, it would be the opposite for Wooyoung and San. Downright hatred and resentment from the moment they met. It's no secret that the two have hated each other's guts since childhood. San is the lesser twin in Wooyoung's eyes, and to San, Wooyoung is an inferior person in every way. Being the personification of each other's insecurities, Wooyoung with his inferiority complex and San with his superiority, it was almost fate for them to become rivals in everything. Love interests, grades, athletics, nothing is off the table for competition. San is what Wooyoung hates in an alpha. He's bullheaded, a pompous prick, and too full of his . If San says the sky is blue, then you can bet your entire savings that Wooyoung will say it's orange to his dying breath just to piss San off, like it's his favorite hobby (Which, for all purposes, it is). San is the bane of his existence, the thorn in his side he can't pluck. They both make it a point to one-up the other, whether that be a snide comment about intellect or an all-out brawl. Wooyoung can't seem to shake the bastard, no matter how hard he tries. San is always there, and as a consequence, the two know much more about each other than they'd ever admit aloud. Despite their rivalry and mutual dislike, Aeri's presence is a constant reminder that they're a part of each other's lives whether they like it or not. Oh, and did he mention the worst part? They're dormmates. Isn't that just fantastic? If only Aeri wasn't insistent on keeping San alive…

Chaewon is an interesting addition to his friend group. Having met her in college, she's been a fiery force of chaos that only adds to Wooyoung's growing responsibilities to keep people alive. Always down to party, skip class, and cause a riot, Chaewon is as likable as she is wild. If Wooyoung ever needs a drink, he knows exactly who to go to. She's like the younger sister he never had. Someone who doesn't mind getting in trouble or doing something utterly insane just for the sake of a good time. Hitting it off from the get-go wasn't a shocker, but what was a surprise was her lineae, or her adopted lineage. His new friend happens to also be his history professor's sister.

Counselor Sooyoung noona is one of the kindest people Wooyoung knows, and he greatly respects her. Loving and considerate, Sooyoung has many qualities that Wooyoung is drawn to, which makes it easy to talk to her. Initially coming to her for general counseling, Wooyoung eventually contacted the older woman to study for his major, which she enthusiastically agreed to.
