Yimei is the last Feng child and the youngest in the family. She was born in Guangzhou in the Spring and was a healthy baby despite the fact her cries would be very loud. The servants would say that she cried so much as a baby that it made her a quieter adult. Growing up, it took a while for her to learn certain things but she learned. In fact, she liked learning a bit too much and though she was a warrior type like her siblings, she prefers the pen or a book than a sword. She could be quite fierce at times but she was much more softer than her siblings, and Duke Feng hated that. In his eyes she was both his little angel and the bane of his existence. She would carry herself with poise as a lady should but she would often be a bit too dainty when handling her sword which didn't make her father happy. Before the trip to Hanseong, she became very studious when it came to matters of diplomacy and she excelled in those matters. Her father saw some use of her skill set but he decided to send her to Hanseong under the guise of having her learn more from her siblings, which is partially true, he does want her to learn more from her siblings in another land in order for her to toughen up while using her diplomatic skills to weasel into new political waters.
Personality wise, Yimei is observant, she's quiet at times but talks quite a bit in other moments. Despite her soft and kind demeanor in the surface, she's still a Feng and has a deceptive underbelly to her personality as well as the ferocity of a Feng that was put upon her at an early age in the attempt to shape her into a warrior. She can certainly fight but she has a different less bloodthirsty way of fighting. While she's good with her sword, she's better with acts of diplomacy. Yimei loves her siblings and she's happy to be with them but she's also curious about this new land around her and she wishes to explore it and meet new people.
- During the year of 1870, Yimei fell ill with a mysterious sickness and her parents thought that that was it, it would be the end of her especially since she had no fighting spirit in her blood. She had been close to the brink of death but deep within her was her true potential that had been unlocked as her body began fighting the sickness. She was sick for three weeks before she had finally opened her eyes again and was no longer sick. This event changed her by showing her that she wasn't weak like others had assumed her to be, she just needed to know that for herself.
- Two failed betrothals had a pretty big impact on her... the first was possibly her true love. He was kind but strong and very intelligent. He actually adored her and was even from Guangzhou. Her mother however wasn't fond of him for some reason, perhaps she was angry about seeing her daughter once again be so doted upon and so adored yet again, for this life was hard and Yimei simply had to learn that she couldn't get everything she wanted... and so Duchess Feng sabotaged the arrangement, she ended up convincing her husband to not allow Yimei to marry her betrothed. Duke Feng sent the young man on his way and Yimei's heart was broken. Her mother was happy to see him leave and shamelessly told Yimei this, and ever since then, Yimei has an icy at best relationship with her mother due to still being angry with her over suspecting that she might have had something to do with the first failed betrothal. The second was arranged by Duchess Feng herself but Yimei decided to be a brat and scare the second betrothal away. She did this out of spite and her relationship with her mother took another tumultuous hit because of it and both of them argued horribly for a few days before Duke Feng stepped in and told his wife to stop meddling and told Yimei to act like a proper lady. After that he officially took over any and all matters of courting and betrothals when it came to Yimei, and she was very comfortable with that and decided to let her father choose for her as long as she still has a bit of say in the process herself.
- At times there's an unmistakable coldness to Yimei and that's because of her mother. She had been battling her mother her whole life due to her mother being the one to openly call her youngest daughter weak because she wasn't like her siblings, this took a toll on Yimei and there were small moments where she questioned whether or not she was weak, but she pushed those thoughts down because in her mind she was born a Feng, there was no room for weakness if you're born a Feng. So, she kept living her life until she noticed that her mother was very spiteful and didn't really believe in her, and this is where Yimei's overthinking herself and her overwhelming desire to be strong in other ways besides the battlefield really started. Her father's lack of seeing her fighting skills improving also pushed her to seek out her own strengths in other things, but her mother's lack of wanting to see her succeed is what really drove Yimei. She ended up finding her strengths in diplomacy, the art of conversation, in scholarly type things and despite a lot of push back from Duchess Feng, Yimei's resolve was stronger than it seemed as well and she actively pursued her newfound strengths which ended up balancing out into her favor because her father ended up noticing her brand new talents and decided to utilize it for the better, which is why Yimei is in Hanseong as a diplomat because she's good at what she does.
