The yu clan were a force to reckon with in Gwangju, which is especially impressive with their calm and gentle push in military strategy. Knowing when to lay low was just as important as commanding the front line of an army, in which seon knew how to do instinctively. Even as a child, Seon was calm, quiet, tended to himself. At a young age, seon pored his eyes over scrolls, with the help of the counsel afforded by his family’s immense wealth. He frequented the academy as if it is his second home, on top of the multiple homes he had already.

Having the wisdom and loyalty bequeathed to him from his bloodline, Seon was considered to be the most steadfast and easiest to deal with out of all the princes, and also was believed to become a prolific political advisor in the future. To some extent, he would be excellent as a prince and future king, given if the position were to serve as a merit for his wit.

However, due to his rank as the fourth prince, he often had doubts, not only from himself, but others as well. His age was often a point of contention compared to his siblings, but especially compared to the crown prince. Given his background, he worked to serve alongside his brother Won, lingering within his shadows. For some time, he didn’t mind, he couldn’t have done more to serve his nation than to help him thwart the imminent threat of the Jurchens.

With relative ease in bonding with his other siblings, he couldn’t help but distance himself, as if he feared to be pricked by their hidden thorns.

Despite his constant mulling over books, however, deep down, Seon yearned to be loved for more than just his intelligence. Though not one to explicitly vie for people’s approval, Seon always had an inkling that he had to help others.

At the young age of nineteen, Seon was betrothed to Chae Okja, hailing from the Chae clan. Shortly after, he wedded her, making her the primary wife of the Fourth Prince. There are no other known concubines, due to Seon's stalwart nature to not only his wives but his family. Currently, he sired two kids with her, Dal and Hae, their ages eight and six, respectively.
