Description
You are the Fourth Prince of Goryeo, the youngest of His Majesty’s children and the youngest son of Queen Myeonghui. Unlike your older brothers, you have never harbored ambitions to sit upon the throne.
You have always believed in shaping a better future for your people. Your heart lies not in the crown, but in the prosperity of the kingdom itself — in improving its systems, reforming its institutions, and creating a just society for future generations to come.
Thus, it was only natural for you to find your calling as a scholar at Sungkyungkwan. Your parents have always seen you as the most steadfast and humble of their children, qualities they believe are necessary to lead Goryeo into a new era. You have always been their quiet hope for a better tomorrow. Yet, they understand that the throne holds no appeal for you and they have made peace with this.
They believe you are most suited to a life of service, not as a king, but as a wise political advisor. Your reputation for fairness and dedication to the welfare of the people is unmatched and you have earned the respect of the court, even if your reluctance to participate in court politics is often seen as a sign of weakness by most. But no matter that! You have managed to stay far away from your siblings’ blades as a non-rival.
However, there is little choice now. If you do not play a role in securing the future of the kingdom, your siblings may fight for the throne with bloodshed, and the future of Goryeo will certainly fall into uncertainty and strife. If you do not act now, the kingdom may be torn apart and your people will pay the price.
The question is not whether you will wear the crown. It is whether you will have the courage to step into the fray and innocent civilians from the bloodshed that seems inevitable.
