Description
BYUN WOOSEOK "The Sleeper"
Cyborg | Slave (Owned) | Appears 35 | Demiual - Aromantic
Occupation: Mechanic's Apprentice at Mechanical Me
Wooseok was one of the first successful attempts at blending human consciousness with cutting-edge cybernetics in the early days of cyborg innovation. Created as part of Project Eden, his purpose was to lead a fleet of advanced humanoid cyborgs designed for exploration and protection. However, when the project collapsed and Wooseok was placed in stasis, he was forgotten. Upon being rediscovered and reactivated centuries later, Wooseok found himself not as a free individual but as a slave.
Upon his restoration, Wooseok's memory remains fragmented, with only flashes of his previous life as a human and his purpose as a cyborg. He now faces the challenge of adapting to a world that has changed drastically while rediscovering his identity and purpose.
Connections:
Master/Mistress (1/1) - Kim Daesung
Mentor/Creator (1/1)- Kim Kibum
Face from the Past (1/2) - Maria
Friends/Allies (∞)
Personality/Weaknesses:
• While internally grappling with the constraints of his servitude, Wooseok maintains an outwardly composed demeanor.
• Despite his circumstances, his programming and personal ethics push him to fulfill his responsibilities with precision and honor.
• Melancholic - Reflects on the freedom and purpose he lost, feeling conflicted about his existence.
• Seeks to better understand the world he's reawakened into, even within the confines of his restrictions.
• His incomplete recollection can lead to emotional instability and confusion.
• His human side or whatever is left of it clashes with his programming and often exacerbates his internal struggles.
• Prolonged dormancy has left him physically strong but mentally vulnerable, with occasional "glitches" in his systems.
• His original design isn't fully compatible with modern-day technology, making upgrades slow and risky.
--- Chapter 1
Byun Wooseok grew up in the industrious outskirts of Marteria Highlands. Even as a child, he was fascinated by machinery and alchemy, always eager to learn and tinker. His family, though supportive, struggled to make ends meet in a society sharply divided by class but Wooseok's aspirations were clear, he wanted to escape the confines of Marteria and reach Circuit City. After years of saving and studying, Wooseok finally managed to travel to the city, leaving behind his humble beginnings for a chance to realize his dreams. It was here that Wooseok crossed paths with his mentor and creator. Under his mentor's guidance, Wooseok flourished, learning to merge alchemical principles with advanced engineering. Together, they worked on projects that blurred the line between man and machine, creating prototypes that could revolutionize industries.
His mentor's most ambitious endeavor was Project Eden, which aimed to create cyborgs-human-machine hybrids capable of unparalleled strength, intelligence, and longevity. These beings were envisioned as the ultimate workforce and protectors of Circuit City. Wooseok became deeply involved in the project but despite his excitement, he harbored doubts about the ethical implications of the project. However, his concerns were overshadowed by a personal tragedy, his parents, still living in Marteria, succumbed to a deadly industrial plague caused by unregulated factory emissions or so he thought. Grief stricken and desperate to create a solution to save others from such loss, Wooseok volunteered to become the project's first human subject.
Wooseok's transformation was a groundbreaking success and an excruciating ordeal. His body was systematically replaced with mechanical components, his senses enhanced, and his consciousness transferred into a crystalline core. He emerged as the prototype cyborg, with abilities far surpassing any human. However, the process had stripped him of more than his mortality, it muted his emotions and fragmented his memories, leaving him a shadow of his former self. Worse, the Central Authority grew fearful of the power created. The potential of the project threatened the balance of power in Circuit City, and Wooseok's unstable state only added to their concerns. Declared a liability, Wooseok was decommissioned and placed into stasis.
--- Chapter 2
After rumors surfaced about an ancient relic, mercenaries were dispatched to recover it, only to discover that the so called artifact was actually an ancient cyborg, Wooseok. Transported back to Central, he was initially intended to be sold to wealthy collectors. However, fate intervened, and Wooseok found himself into servitude instead.
Now serving as a mechanic's apprentice at Mechanical Me, Wooseok considers himself fortunate to be under the care of a compassionate master. This support allows him to gradually repair and upgrade himself, albeit at a slow pace. With his master's guidance, he navigates his new reality, though he occasionally experiences glitches and malfunctions. As Wooseok encounters individuals of various races, some kind and others hostile, his interactions challenge both his programmed directives (Including those hidden/unknown to him) and the lingering remnants of his humanity.
