Benvolio is the best friend of Romeo. He is the son of Vitturio. When Vitturio opposed Montague during a council meeting, Vitturio was stripped of his title as the mayor of Neo Verona and his nobility. Vitturio and his family, including Benvolio moved out of the Nobles' Quarters to live with the commonfolk. However, there was an assasination attempt on Vitturio's family's life, ordered by Montague. A mysterious informer alerted Juliet, Curio, Francisco and Antonio about this attempt and they saved Vitturio's and his family's life with the help of Tybalt. The family is forced into hiding - Vitturio and his wife live seperately from Benvolio so as to not arouse suspicion. They allowed the rumours which said they were dead to spread. Curio allows Benvolio to stay with him during this period after being convinced by Francisco that it would be beneficial to the cause. Francisco remarks that if necessary, he would be willing to sacrifice Benvolio's life - which makes Curio gasp in shock. Benvolio's parents stay in one of the safehouses belonging to the Capulet party.
