Lee Sojung was abandoned by her family at the age of four. Taken in by a clan of assassins, she was taught their ways of deception and death. She soaked up their instruction, wanting to please her new family. She feared being abandoned again, being unloved by the people who were supposed to take care of her. She adopted the ideals of her family, believing that the king and the rest of the royals were destroying the kingdom. At fourteen, she went on her first mission. By the age of sixteen, she was a well known for getting the job done. At seventeen, she disappeared. No one knew what happened to her, but they assumed she was dead since she was last seen in the forest.
The forest is the first memory of Sojung's. She remembers being attacked by a band of bandits, but she doesn't know why. Then it all goes blank, the next thing she remembers is waking up alone in the forest. She managed to get herself to a nearby stream and wash off all the dried blood. After resting a while, she wandered through the forest, surprised when she found a gorgeous garden that sat behind what could only be termed a palace. It was then that she met him, Kwon Jiyong, king of the land. She knew nothing of him and even with his surprise of finding her there on his property, she couldn't help but be charmed by him. It wasn't long after their meeting, only the time it took for her to heal completely, for him to take her as his mistress.
Sojung knew what she was getting herself in to. He was the king, and as such would be married to someone befitting his station and yet...she can't help but want more. She's expected not only to be fine with him being with the queen but also any other person he decides to take as a lover. For a while she was okay with it, it didn't effect her at all. But the longer she's his mistress, the more jealous she finds herself getting when he spends time with those she must share him with. Instead of just leaving like any normal woman, she focuses her jealousies on getting even. Spending time in other men's company, flirting with them, even sleeping with those she likes enough to do so. She knows that it pisses him off, but she can't seem to stop herself from reacting this way.
