Background: youngjae's grandmother used to hit him. The first time he told his mom she got very angry and yelled at him, telling him to never say anything like that again. Afraid that she would hit him too if he brought it up, he kept his mouth shut. Over the years, his father became concerned with the marks and bruises he would sometimes come home with, but youngjae was unsure of how his dad would react if he told him what was really going on. His dad assumed that it was just a school bully so he made youngjae switch schools. The next time he came home with a mark, his dad put him in another school. He was there for a week before he ran away from home at the age of 14. He traveled for a while, walking, taking rides from strangers, and sleeping where ever he stopped for the night. Eventually he felt far enough away to put his past behind him and we walked into a hotel.  He asked to speak to the owner then waited until the woman arrived. They made a deal that he would stay in one of the rooms, free of charge, in return, he would work for the hotel. He spent every day there after school, learning as much as he could about the business and the people skills involved.
