Sohee never started out as a lady, as a matter of fact, left to a lord at just five years old she was anything but. She ran, she jumped, she screamed. She was loud feisty and everything a lady should not be. At least she had the looks, flaming red hair and sapphire blue eyes... She'd be a treasure if she ever learned.
It was a slow process but soon they started to straighten her out, force her into restrictive routines and clothing. At one point she faintly remembers them weighting her legs to keep her still. Eventually she complied, brokenly becoming what they wanted whilst she dreamt of the red headed man who had left her in her "prison" every night.
Now fourteen, Sohee is mature, polite and a "proper" lady. The only problem they had left to solve.... Was her magic. At first they tried merely banning her, then gloves, then removing every fire in the palace. But it did no good. Sohee's temper was too harsh, and her magic too strong. She was creating her own fire and it was so worrying that it called for other measures. They found an old wise woman who performed a ceremony on her hands, slicing in deep marks across her palms and sealing them with her own magic, so now, Sohee couldn't cast. She hides her hands under long sleeves for this reason, hiding the marks and also hopefully her power from herself.
It's a big secret now, none of the maids or lords know. But the marks only slowed Sohee. It's painful.... And difficult.
But she never lost the ability to cast.

The slices in Sohee's hands although decorative and pretty in a somewhat horrific way, are something that Sohee was told she had to hide, the magic used, made them seem like they were constantly ruby red, like they were constantly bleeding, raw and painful... they were.
But when Sohee gets a strong enough emotion she casts unintentionly.... and one day, despite how painful it is, she discovered that she could still cast. Even the enchantment couldn't hold her down. She never told anyone about this. But now, hiding the marks is een more essentially, the marks are no longer a ruby red... but a hideous charred black.
Sohee secretly wants to be a Bussan council representative for magic but her lord wants to marry her off so he gain himself more assets so she's given up on that. When she finds out Yonghwa is the heir to Bussan however. She is going to begin to push him towards taking back his throne and once again seperating Bussan from Kwangju.
Sohee gets her magic from her mother; the fire from her father.
Her mother was a seer with the same abilities as Yixing, but the visions took to greater toll on her and she grew weak, until she died of childbirth. Yixing is more healing inclined, then aura reading or vision seeing. Sohees mother was more aura inclined and could read people like a book, this is why Sohee is a very... emotional person. Her father originally had a fire spirit and a temper, it was this that influenced her magic as well.
Fire is the only element controlled by dark magic and in particular it is influenced by largely by negative emotions. Sohee is some what a time bomb, if she looses control of her emotions (particularly things like fear, depression or especially anger) her magic may burn uncontrollably, or lash out without her consent. She already tends to snap unintentionally if she's angry, shooting more streaks of fire which usually scare her and cause a lot of trouble. That's how they found out she could work with fire in the first place.
