Description
As a child, Alex didn't have very many friends. This was mostly due to the fact that he didn't trust people a lot, and kids didn't really try to talk to him. When he was just 5-years-old, his parents died in a house fire, leaving him an orphan. It was there that he grew up, before being adopted by a Survey Corps member at the age of 8. Though the man went away a lot on duty, when he came home, he made sure to take care of Alex and teach him to defend himself if he ever decided to take a job in the Survey Corps. Alex took the training well, but never really had an interest in joining the military. He was more so focused on his studies, reading books whenever his guardian was gone and learning new things everyday.
That all changed when Wall Maria fell. Seeing the titan looming over the wall, just staring with hungry eyes, Alex new for sure nothing would be the same again. He ran out of the house, trying to find his guardian. He didn't want to lose another parent. Alex wasn't in time though. Running down one of the backstreets past already destroyed buildings, he caught sight of his guardian fighting a titan. Then the worst happened. His guardian was caught by the titan, and as if in slow motion, Alex watched as he was lifted to the titan's mouth.
He lost his footing and fell into the rubble of a building, a metal spike from some form of machinary scratching his left eye and leaving a scar, but luckily not impaling his eye (another story). Maybe it was a good thing though, since he didn't have to watch him die.
