〈 ❝ BACKGROUND

In reality, Jongdae, himself thinks he's not that lucky. Based on his own perspective that is. Being an heir, having the golden title during school high, getting the coolest friends, how would you describe that as unlucky? The thing is, Jongdae partially wanted the contrary. It wasn't a necessity. It was his dream escape. The exit to all of the grandest and fanciest life anyone could ever had. Taking over one of the most successful businesses in the country was one powerful duty which, however, the heir seemed to be uninterested in. It was already a bright light beeming at him like it was a way to the sky. Unfortunately, Jongdae only peered at it. It was like his mind's trickery to himself directly. The brightest light to everyone was the darkest to him. He knew that if the company got into his hands, it would be in disarray. The lad envied the people who got all the freedom they got. While he, was trapped in his own reality where he was trapped under his parents' control. That was only the first reason why he named himself as 'unlucky.' But of course, he devised his surreptitious tactics. The ill-fated variant of himself was his own opponent. He seek to defeat the antagonist and to overcome the unfortunate one.

During high school, Jongdae was one who owned 'the title'. He was adored by almost everyone in school. Well, almost. To him, high school was life-threatening. He theorizes a 'certain' someone was after him. It is an appropriate reason to hate having the golden plaque stuck on his seat. A part of his memorabilia was one where an anonymous locked him inside the laboratory where a mephitic was reeking his sense. Dizziness was dominating him. Thankfully, he got out before he was taken by complete darkness. That's why he despise the prominence and adored the solitary. Even so, his negative thoughts about it changed as his list of companions grew longer and longer. Jongdae discovered the art of escape at the age of seventeen. It was the best lesson he'd ever studied. He liked getting out at midnight, jumping off his window that didn't distance from the ground on the lowest floor. Usually, his disappearances are unplanned. Whatever he finds in the night, he goes with it. As an adventurous lad, he prefers everything to be discovered by own rather than planning that is more likely to be cancelled than to be experienced. Though sometimes, he tend to get into fights because of his adventures. Rather it's because of the gangs lingering through the outskirts of Seoul.

During childhood, the six year old Jongdae loves meeting new people. It's just that it wasn't easy since his parents prohibits him to do so. He never really discovered the real reason why but somehow, he thinks that it was again about business. The fact that everything that his parents see and think are always linked to business. It wasn't pleasant to him. Seeing his parents immersed themselves deeply to their enterprise so much makes him grow sick of it. He never really remembered a time where his parents quit a day from work to hang out with him. Legal holidays were spent being alone in his room, with his parents holding a meeting regarding their company's improvement in some private room in the mansion. Sometimes, he often thinks that handling business is no type of job but is considered as an addiction. Birthdays were celebrate with no colorful decorations but was held by having his friends come over and do their own thing. Christmas eves are eating on the long tables, with parents, again, talking about nothing but business. No questions about school, about life, about friends of their child, making him feel small in between, despite the fact that he can't relate to their topic.

Romance and Jongdae aren't created to be bonded successfully. He didn't find himself in a way of describing himself as romantic. In fact, being in a relationship is the worst experience he'd ever encounter. He still can't over his serious past relationship. Jongdae, firstly, didn't believe in love. Nor he did imagine someone being changed by the power of its deep chemistry. He never even felt true love from his parents. Why would he even expect love from those people whom he's interested in? If you would give Kim Jongdae a birthday gift, then you better just give him love. It sounds cheesy, however, he wants to feel being cared for, being loved, being everything he never experienced. But he accused himself for loving someone and for losing that person because of his own hobbies. The first time when Jongdae met his first was during his escape. Her cries was the first thing he heard, desperately screaming for help. He was like her Knight-in-shining armor, giving the men (who he considers the suspects) a punch in the part that causes them to grow weak. After doing so, he grabbed the lass by her hands and ran off from the foes. It's cliché but it was the first time Jongdae actually helped someone. After slowing down, knowing that they probably lost the suspects, they immersed into a lively conversation, formally introducing themselves to each other and sharing fun facts. Ironically, it was the very first time he met someone who made him smile, not because he was forced to, but because he was amused and enjoyed her company. They became official and lasted for months until he discovered that he was played. He knew that he shouldn't have expected too much and decided to cut off the relationship which he views as only one big lie. Jongdae was in deep frustration. His emotions caged his heart. He felt once more indifferent and yet fooled.

Jongdae thought, he shouldn't let himself be the one catching up with everything, being the only one that knows himself truly, being a puppet under control of everyone. Thus, he did change. He keeps everything hidden under his countenance that displays his once cheerful expression that drained down into a sly smirk that shows his presumptous personality.

By the age of twenty-one, practically the present time, he spends his days promoting the family business. Attending constant photoshoots, interviews. It was everything that wasn't linked to fun. Preventing himself from sleeping during meetings is hard. The boring personality that the room owns makes him prefer being unemployed than working a job he never wanted. He finds it funny how his parents arranges him blind dates with the daughters of different successful businessmen. But it usually ends up with the latter crying herself back to home, and him being slapped or being splashed with a cold refreshing iced tea.
