Elliot died by committing suicide years ago... He was given a second chance by Nicolai , but in order for that to happen Elliot must give up some things. Those things are... His name , half of his soul etc. Nicolai used half of that soul to make another copy of Elliot.Whose name was Battler. Battler is made to be the exact opposite of Elliot..but memories of what happened were also in Battler's mind. Battler chose to ignore and continue life as a clone.
