Description
During the middle ages the main economic units were the villages and/or manors. These were self-contained economic units which ate most of the food that was raised. They sold the surplus food only in good years, those were the good times, and long before the appearances of dark creatures started troubling Obsidian. Animals disappeared, crops died in unexplainable causes and landlords had to sell their land and cut-off people in order to adjust to the changes.
Lee Howon thinks he is still lucky. He was the second son to one of the most well-known landlord/farmer in Obsidian, his father did his best to adjust to the new life even if it meant losing most of their land and workers in the process and with his wife on his side they were able to live simple, and raise Hoya and his brothers to become good men. Hoya, as Howon was called, was raised up like his father, he helped in the farm every day from plowing, cultivating, mowing the feild to harvesting, lumbering logs and his favorite, hunting. He always looked up to his brother but unlike him, the latter had ambitions and chose to train to become one of the Kingdom's noble Knights, Hoya was not against it specially when his brother has sworn to protet them and make them proud. But that was all in the past, everythign changed when their village was suddenly attacked by packs of wolves, assisted by witches and dark creatures alike, stealing crops and worse, young souls were fed off from children, The town didn't get any response from the castle and that time Hoya knew they had to depend on themselves to live, he ran and hid his little brother in the woods as the elders, including his parents, were struggling in a losing fight. Hoya returned to the village to help but it was too late, he found his father's body outside their house, slaughtered and his mother's lifeless body inside, unscathed but obviously lifeless. There were so many casualties and only few lived to tell the nightmare. He retrieved his brother and promised he'd protect him no matter what, unlike their elder brother who he believed now was a dog to the crowns, and take revenge on the monsters that took their parents away.
Now. Lee Howon no longer believes in luck. He believes in determination, perseverance and strength. He has the skills and knowledge to keep their farm running together with his brother. He no longer believes in the promises of the royal family, and he no longer entrusts his safety in the hands of the castle, not even his elder brother. And he believes one day, he will take revenge on the creatures that took away everything precious to them in that one night.
