001 was knowledgeable but quiet, and he was especially smart when it came to knowing what others wanted. He was created as the first personal assistant robot, the inner workings of his artificial mind crafted and detailed so that he could analyze and make note of the little things to better his service. His owner wasn't a particularly engaging man, and said little to the robot, whom he named Luhan, other than giving him daily orders and tasks.
After finishing his daily tasks, Luhan would sneak into his owner's small library and read any book he could get his hands on while the man was away at work to avoid being caught. One afternoon, his owner arrived home early, surprising 001 when he entered the room to find the robot reading. Luhan expected a scolding but only heard a quiet "You like books?" and saw the quirk of a brow. Nodding timidly, he whispered a soft reply, to which he received a low hum of approval as the man left the room.
From that day on, the man would ask Luhan to read to him every night after he came home from work, explaining that his eyes didn't work well enough to read anymore, and the robot happily obliged. He would read one chapter each night, forging a strange bond between the two through literature. The man's eyesight worsened daily, and eventually he became blind due to retinal degeneration from a cancerous disease Luhan was not informed Of. He took care of the man from dusk to dawn, and was ever-present wherever his owner may be, comforting him with the next chapter of whatever they were to read. One night, when the duo were finishing the last chapter of a book, Luhan paused, looking up to see his sleeping owner slumped forward in his seat. Upon closer inspection the robot realized that the man was no longer breathing.
Whatever had taken the man's eyesight had taken his life as well and it chipped away a piece Luhan's artifiCial heart. After meeting robot number 007, Woobin, he decided he would invest his expanse of knowledge into working with his own kind once the two became close. Together, they founded Re-Awakening to keep other robots safe and happy before their expirations, hoping they would find happiness in others where it couldn't be found in themselves.
