BACKGROUND

Jaejoong is the son of Medusa. She was not the Mom-ster that others portrayed her to be. She was stern, this is true. She had a temper, as well. She would hold a grudge and could be unforgiving. But she loved her son more than anything in the world. That is why, she sacrificed herself for him; she gave her life to spare her son of the curse she had to bear for so many years. In exchange for her life, Medusa made the Gods promise that they would not place the same curse on her son and allow him to live. However, after Medusa was out of the picture, Athena took it upon herself to ensure that Medusa was rightfully punished for what she had done; instead of placing Medusa's curse on the boy, she instead placed one that would slowly claim his eyesight. Jaejoong was told that when he reached his mid-30s, he would be comepletely blind. He keeps his curse to himself and wears very strong contacts to stave off suspicion. Loosing his sight is something that scares him deeply; he has always found solace and companionship within books (being the son of Medusa isn't exactly a fairytale). He is afraid of the man he will become without his books.

Jaejoong is a more reserved, withdrawn person. Or rather, he is not an outgoing person (in the act of going out of his way to make friends). He is a sociable person in his own way and does enjoy talking to others. He keeps things to himself, such as his curse, and doesn't trust many because of how he was treated growing up.
Some would describe Jaejoong as slow to anger, a stark contrast from his mom. He learned to withhold his frustration and anger and to not let it get the best of him. However, when he does explode, his anger is fierce and it is palpable. He can also be described as witty; he likes to take things in stride and even when someone is being particularly nasty, he likes to twist it around with his wit.
Jaejoong is a titch awkward and dorky. When he speaks, sometimes things sound one way in his head and take a completely different turn once they come out. He often finds himself with his foot in his mouth. His dorkiness comes out, particularly, when someone brings up his favorite authors: Orwell, Wilde, Faulkner, Lee. He is a bibliophile to say the least. He has always found companionship within books and he has an emphatic response to the characters in his books. Some could be overwhelmed from his literary zeale.
