Description
--▲ Kim Jongin : Twenty One : Artist ▲
Jongin's first masterpiece was finger painting at the age of three when his parents decided it was a good idea to leave an open bucket of paint when they had left to get some last minute supplies, while their three year-old son played in the same room they were painting. They came home to a mess of green across white walls, pictures that didn't make any sense but were considered beautiful to his mother and a mess by his father who watched over with annoyance. His second was in third grade when they had their first art class, crayons of variety that had stars in Jongin's eyes. It was almost like he had a natural love for art despite being terrible at art itself.
It wasn't a surprise that Jongin continued art as more than a hobby as he grew up. Unlike his friends at school who went by their parents' wishes and studied finance and management or even some of the kids who went on to do greater things in life rather than sit in a room and put colroful mixture onto meaningless paper. His mother was more than proud and welcome to Jongin doing what he loved but his father was less than excited about Jongin's new interest. He had pressured Jongin to the brink to make him change his mind but Jongin never budged not even when his father had gone to the extent of throwing Jongin's most precious art away in a way to tell him that he was more than displeased.
Art became much more than a hobby when he moved out in the middle of his high school years, two jobs to pay for rent and the art classes he attended in order to get better. He entered his first competition and won third, it might have not been first but it certainly encouraged him to try harder and to imrpove faster. By the time Jongin was eighteen he had saved up money from multiple jobs, enough that he could travel the world and find his inspiration. As he traveled his work had become known more, inside and outside of technology his work got around and he was recognized for his portraits of those who walked the streets and later on he had done landscapes, switching back and forth between techniques he had learned.
When Jongin was twenty he had fallen in love with another artist, and he hadn't just fallen in love with the artist but the artist's work. It was love at first sight for Jongin and the one who had taken his heart, they were so in love that they hadn't realized that their love was ruining them. Jongin was possessive and easily tempermental, threw fits that ended with whispered words and apologies that never really meant anyrthing. Their love lasted a year before a car crash tore them apart. His love could no longer draw afterwards and it's what kept them apart and Jongin was pushed away.
Jongin traveled around to new places once more to find inspirtation but time couldn't heal what hurt Jongin inside. Jongin realized he needed to settle down and focus on what he loved rather than the painful yesterdays. Seoul Plaza was his to stay at least for a while considering there was a position opened at the Artist Alley, where he would get paid to show off his artwork and teach other kids who were just like him. Jongin didn't plan on staying long but he didn't have any other place to go.
