Being the younger brother to the current emperor and the second born to the previous, Kai is the Imperial Prince by name. Kai hates his brother because he was crowned the emperor and that their father favored his brother while despising Kai’s birth. Kai spent a majority of his life avoiding being killed at the hands of his father, who attempted to kill him in almost any way possible. Kai only knew that the reason that his father hated his existence was because Kai was born from the woman that he hated. Kai doesn’t understand or doesn’t even want to understand why his father hated his mother but still allowed her to carry his child and allowed his birth. After the death of his father and crowning of his brother, Kai remained inside his room only coming out to eat food as he turned the Imperial Palace into his own prison unable to trust anybody as they all might have had a hand at an attempt at his life.

Three years after his brother was crowned the emperor, Kai finally came out of his room as he had decided to start to trust the people around him. Kai still does not like his brother just because the thought of their father comes to mind whenever he looked at him. But Kai still tries to make it look like the two of them have a good relationship so that there are no rumors going around the palace about it. Kai became a more laid back guy as he began to go with the flow knowing that there is nothing that he  can do about the coronation of his brother to emperor and everything else that had happened in the past.
