background story
genevieve laurant was once a notable painter from her home country of annecy, france. retiring from her solitary career after choosing to live a joyous life with the man she loved, they planned a bright future together. however, he would vanish from her life, leaving her heartbroken and await the birth of their child alone.
Marguerite lucienna laurant, or margo as she prefers, was born may 12th during the warm springs of a sunshower. having been doted with immense love from her single mother, margo never noticed the missing father figure in her life. she only remembers a blurry image of him from her childhood, one where he would sing her to sleep, though her claims would leave her mother baffle as she knows the man has not once returned to them.
the mother-daughter pair would journey to the americas while Margo was of a young age of six years old, and though having reside in the bustling city that never sleeps for more than half her life, margo still speaks with a slightly distinguishable french accent, possibly picked up from her mother's native language.
falling into a passionate attachment for music, she was born with a magnificent gift for music, she always has a guitar at hand, she played on instinct, her songs soothing agonies of others. her mother always tells her that the music were nostalgic of her father as he had been quite a talented musician himself.
margo knew she was different from others and she had even believed for a long time that her father may not have been of this world - she believed him to be an alien. an actually alien from another world that is. she has realized an immense difference of her health compared to others, though she were not a natural athlete and was prone to her clumsy fits, her wounds would heal at unnatural speeds not leaving a single blemish on her skin. even her blue eyes inherited from her father seemed unnatural to her as her mother's were a deep brown, and she's grown to realize that they turn golden when glancing at the warm sun. she thought she'd never get to meet her father and ask him all these questions, she was envious of those who had one. though she didn't hold any remorse for the man that left their family, a part of her wished to meet and understand him.
her best friend, betty may, lived next door and It seemed like destiny when she shows margo a flyer about a summer camp by the name of camp half-blood. she thought it was a scam as she researched about it thoroughly but to no luck found nothing about it. however, she was curious, and with betty may's help and her mother's approval they left for camp half-blood together
who would have known that it was a scam after all? it wasn't just a summer camp, it was a camp for people like her, demigods. and much to margo's surprise betty may was a satyress all along. it'd be a lie to say margo didn't freak out and tried to run for her life, but after listening to her best friend's explaination, she became aware of the fact that she was different after all. now that she had entrance to camp half-blood, all that's left was to meet her father and find other abilities as well as polish on her musical gift.
having been a seasonal camper, margo returned each summer for the next decade. throughout her time spent there she's learned lots of abilities and more secrets about her life. even so, she's become more god-like and less human, although it did limit her to mortality and stubborness. as she spent many years here, many campers -new and old- had expected her to be prone to the natural gifts of her demigoddess powress, however, margo is quite the opposite.
through her father, apollo - as she had found out years ago - seemed to have been a great and kind god, margo seemed to have been more human in personality after all. perhaps it is from many years being raised by her old maid, lou, who does not know of her secret and the same likewise with her mother, that she's kept such powers to herself. it may have been strange that she did not utter a single word, but she did not want to bring harm upon them if the truth were to be revealed.
margo was different, and she has known for more than half her life, but after having grown to a young adult and experiencing the rollar coaster of life, she has never yearned to be more human than anything else.
