Born in Dallas, Texas, Ashley lived her life without ever really connecting to the Zainichi Korean half of her mixed heritage. But, because she lived in the states her family had never prioritized "culturing" their daughter. At least, not
until family life got complicated.

When her parent's relationshp started to get messy, they wanted to find a way to help Ashley find some stability and
they did so under the guise of helping her connect to the half of her that they had never really exposed her to
before. Enrolling her in full immersion Korean and Japanese language courses, they started grooming her to be ready
to attend a prestigious boarding academy that was far enough away from the divorce proceedings that she would 
never have to deal with them.

So, in her first year of high school Ashley is deciding whether to go by her middle or fist name and is struggling
to remember the correct honorifics for the new people she's meeting. She's a good student, and tries not to make
any trouble for anyone, but...she is a bit curious about what the Night Class is all about. 

Ashley is quiet and a bit shy, but this is largely because she's alone in a brand new place when she had lived in 
Dallas for her entire life thus far. She's adjusting, but keeping to herself at the start until she's sure that she's not
going to mess up and embarrass herself.

Because, if there's one thing she values, it's a good first impression. She is very much a people pleaser and wants
people to like her, even if that means doing some things she wouldn't normally do.

Impressionable, conservative, and a sheltered turtle just starting to climb out of its shell, or a flower just starting to bud--
Ashley is figuring out where her place in the world is.
