When asked about legend and fairytales
Jongin would always give the same answer:
He didn't sell his voice, nor his eyesight nor his tail to become human.
In fact, he didn't want to become human in the first place. Born first son to the King of the Sea- Poseidon, King Triton, the great god Mercur who knew?- he was brought up to know that he is better than the rest. He is to rule the ocean one day after all.
But fame and no rules make people weak, so his father believed and so Jongin was raised as a perfect heir, holding himself regal and behaved and at heart the boy was always silent and more observant than many.
Arielle is just a myth and still Jongin had always been fascinated by the human world up there and one day his fascination got him into trouble. No prince for him, no contract for his voice, no, but a witch that thought it would be funny to send the little merfolk prince to the human world. And boom, there he was on the shore, washed up like a piece of wood with legs instead of fins.
Don't worry about him though. Toss him into salt water and he will have back his tail until you get him a blow drier

Jongin is quiet, but observant like mentioned before but he has a warm heart even though it is well hidden behind his royal behavior that still sticks to him like super glue. He might not be a prince up here, but he is of blue blood after all!

Jongin longs for the sea and the sea longs for him. But he
is used to the live on two legs by now. But just like the little
mermaid in the fairytale, he walks the beach at night, looking out across the waves and wonders if his brothers and sisters are out there watching him, missing him. Up here he is free and able to do what he wants. That doesn't stop him from coming to the beach almost every night to take a walk though, letting the salt water wash over his feet.
Are you out there too? Do we meet here every night and talk? Maybe you can steal his heart and be the home to build on solid ground instead of under the crashing waves?

As it is, Jongin has a passion for books. Yes, books. He loves novels of all kind, fantasy, romance. You name it, he loves it. That's why he works in the bookstore just around the corner from his apartment- not that he really has a big apartment, don't get him wrong- and maybe you happen to look for a book he has read a thousand times. You might know the book too, maybe you lost your copy? And maybe- just maybe- you spend hours talking about that book and Jongin forgets that he is supposed to be wokring. Whoops.

Children are a gift when you are living under the sea. It doesn't happen too often that you are able to have one and they are adored and cherished in the kingdom beneath the waves. Jongin loves children- he just happens to be a little bit helpless when it comes to them. Maybe he ran into a child in the book store, sitting down with the little fella to read him or her a book. Or he visits the day care to just spend some time with you, who knows? And he will tell you the most amazing stories from his time when he just had a tail and no legs to walk around on.
