Luke doesn't live with his parents but his parents play a very big part in his life. He often shoots to please his parents, therefore, he hides the fact that he's in a band. His parents were always very strict while growing up (and still are). Its said that with strict patents, you create a sneaky kid, and that's exactly what Luke Hemmings is. He's learned to sneak around, and do what he wants when he wants to without his parents taking notice. Luke has a job his parents approve of, which is a waiter at a hotel restaurant. 

Luke has always rebeled against his parents, and from that, he's picked up on the habbit of drinking, smoking and partying. There really isn't a better life is there? *Wink wonk*
