@[A] Zinni "The firebenders...?" Donghae said to himself when he heard her talk again. How could she talk about them like that? He practically grew up with firbenders his entire life so far! His parents, his siblings, they were the nicest people you could have met. Hearing this, a few things finally clicked in place. That was the reason his parents never let Donghae play with the neighbors. That was why he always had to wear long sleeves and pants so no one would see his tattoos. He was the reason they were all gone now. And suddenly, all the memories came rushing back. His foster father pushing him into the forest, telling him to run and never come back. The Spirit of the Lake, his new mother, telling him she would save him. She had saved him by transporting him years into the future. All this time, and he not once thought why he was always alone, or why she never let him leave to far. He wasn't supposed to exist.
Hearing her again, he nodded absentmindedly, taking the clothes back from her. "S-sorry." he said. "I must have over reacted." Walking back behind the tree, he put the clothes on before picking up his old ones and walking back out from behind it. "Um, where do I put these?" he asked, not wanting to let go of them. No matter how dangerous it was, he wasn't going to get rid of one of his connections to the past, whatever time that was. He blinked, hearing what she said, and nodded dumbly. "Uh...yeah..." Setting his clothes down on the ground, he stood straight up and concentrated.
Soon the air around him blew harder, and he concentrated it under his tossed clothes, bringing them up in the air. With invisible hands, the air moved around his clothes, folding them neatly before it calmed down and they landed in his arms again.
@Donghae Zinni had tried her best not to gape at the male's tattoos, the intricate blue arrow design just exactly how she had seen in those ancient books that her earthbending "parents" had shown her. And yet they seemed so familiar... Now her splitting headache seemed to grow, along with her confusion. What she didn't know was about her past, how she herself as also an airbender, but yet she didn't know.
Zinni gulped, her month open with shock as the other's raging expression. "I-I... sorry." she apologized again, was just sputtering out random words, in a flustered attempt to calm the other. She held up her hands in surrender, "The f-firebenders." she managed to answer his question, twisting her bracelet, a metal band, around her wrist. A little habit she had whenever she was nervous or anxious. "The Fire Nation had ambushed the air temples. I-I don't know how you're still alive at this time unless...unless.." now there she goes again, rambling off and leaving her sentences open-ended. Usually she would be hard-headed and to the point, but yet this male managed to make her stumble over her pronunciation.
Her mind clouded over with random answers that could explain his situation. But how could he magically zoom through time for 90 years? Time travel? But that was impossible. A sleep for 90 years? Unlikely. Was there such thing as a Timebender? Now that could be plausible. Or not. She sighed, fiddling with the ends of her hair, "Uh, you might want to..." she gestured at the fallen clothes, before lifting a hand, causing the earth to shift, and a platform of rock to jut out from the surface, bringing the clothes to her. "Here." she picked up the clothing again, handing it once again to the bare-chested male.
Then a peculiar question popped up in her head. "Could you maybe... show me a bit of your airbending then?" After all, the girl was curious.
@[A] Zinni "Are you alright?" Donghae asked suddenly as he noticed her stumble forward. As she regained her senses, he pressed his hand against her forehead to check if she was sick or not. "Was-was it something I said? I mean you no harm. I assure you." He didn't realize that the way he talked was weird and different for this era. Donghae still thought he had just fallen asleep or something, not transported 87 years into the future where everyone he knew was dead and gone. Nodding as he heard the girl apologize, he stepped back as not to seem creepy and looked down at the clothes.
"It's just that what?" he asked, and frowned slightly. What about airbenders? Hearing how she spoke about him changing clothes, he nodded again and complied, before looking up and looking around as he bit his lip. "I'll go over there then." he said and pointed to the space behind some of the trees. As he walked over towards it, he started removing his shirt, revealing blue tattoos coming from his back and running down his arms, ending as arrows on his hands. The other arrows ended at the tops of his feet, and on top of his head (covered by his hair). Once behind the tree, he started changing completely, and as he changed he suddenly heard her next set of words and stopped moving completely as his eyes widened. Wait, what? The entire airbending tribe was wiped out? Throwing the clothes onto the ground, still not wearing a shirt, he came out from behind the tree with a look of absolute shock on his face.
"W-what do you mean the entire tribe was wiped out? By who? I couldn't have been asleep for 90 years! Of course I'm an airbender!" His words kept getting louder as his voice choked, a nagging voice in the back of his head telling him that what she said was true. "Are you lying to me? Are you trying to get me to do something? How could joke about an entire nation being destroyed?" Looking into her eyes though, Donghae could tell she was only speaking the truth. Or maybe it was a feeling he got. Or maybe it could be that one part of his brain that remembered the news of the tribe being wiped out as a child. "It-it can't be true. It can't because...because...it makes no sense!" Running both his hands on the sides of his head, he turned around to face away from the girl as he paced. This Zinni girl, she really was telling the truth, he could feel it, but he refused to believe it. Was everyone really dead?
@Donghae Zinni tilted her head to the side, did the other really have no clue in the type of dilemma he was in? Heck, airbenders weren't even alive at this time. In fact, weren't they all just... dead? Wait. Zinni in her breath, as her chest tightened up in shock, her breath now stuck in . Oh no, not again. Waves of memories and images flooded her mind, she winced as sharp prickles of pain seemed to stab at the back of her mind, she let out a soft whimper, much against her futile attempt to hold in the pain, she stumbled forward slightly, trying to recover. She squeezed her eyes shut, please... no... She bit her lip, trying her best to block out the strange images that flashed before her eyes. Somehow, the very thought of airbenders always seemed to bring her strange memories that she didn't believe to hers, and constant pain with the strange nostalgic feeling.
It took her a moment before she could recover, finding herself in the stranger's arms, almost crying into his chest. "Sorry." she mumbled softly, still holding onto her throbbing head, "I don't usually have these strange moments..." she said at a soft whisper, rubbing her temples, "It's just that airbendin-" she didn't even want to complete that sentence. "Please just change." she attempted to ask as politely as she could muster, "You really must of been gone for the past 90 years. Back then, the entire air tribe was wiped out." she explained softly, "I just want you to change as to not bring any suspicion and save you the trouble." she offered the male the clothes once again, hoping that he wouldn't question again.
"So... you're an airbender right?" she held in another whimper as yet another wave of pain came over.
@[A] Zinni 'Zinni.' Donghae thought. 'What an unusual name.' Just as he was about to speak up again, he heard her say another few words, before nodding. "Ah, neh. Have you not seen them in a while?" He was curious as to why the girl seemed so surprised about his robes, considering that he had grown up wearing them inside his own home, before the entire tribe of Air Nomads was destroyed that is. "I-I'm not quite sure why I'm here actually. My memory is all scrambled up, but I think it may have to do with the Goddess of the Lake. As to how I got here, I'm not sure." Scratching the back of his head, Donghae tried to recall what had happened, but his memories were all still very fuzzy.
"What do you mean?" he asked, as she asked about him being comfortable in his own clothes. "I'm perfectly fine, they're as comfortable as they've always been. I mean, appa just washed them yesterday and hung them out to dry. Speaking of appa, have you seen a man about as tall as me, with gray hair, dressed in firebending robes?" Donghae had just realized that ever since he woke up, he hadn't seen his parents, nor his sister. Where were they? He was about to open his mouth again when she grabbed him by the wrist and started pulling him along with her. Normally Donghae would be strong enough to get away, but he found himself complying, and realized he was actually too tired at the moment to do any, more so weak than tired. He felt like he couldn't even lift up the smallest pebble.
Once they finally made it to wherever she had taken him, Donghae watched as she climbed the tree skillfully, wishing he could do just the same. He couldn't though, since every time he climbed trees, his firebending would burn them. It was sad really. Before he been blessed with the ability, he had loved climbing trees. It was just so uncontrollable though, that he burned whatever he touched. "Um, uh, you really don't need to do this..." Donghae whispered. "Why would I need to change my clothes anyways?" Tilting his head, he looked up at her questioningly. "Is it that bad for people to see me in airbending robes? I though all the nations knew each other. I mean, that's why I have a lot of friends in each of them. Especially my neighbors, we'd play together a lot." Donghae didn't know he was talking about past events, and his mind was still so scrambled up he'd forgotten about the war. His memories of the war were completely gone actually, wiped away by the Goddess of the Lake. He still believed everyone was friends, and that his real parents and foster family weren't dead.
@Donghae Zinni tilted her head, eyeing the other suspiciously. Wait a sec. It took her a while to process those strangely familiar... clothes... She did a once over before her eyes flicked up to his face, she remained her blank expression before realizing the awkward silence that had came between them. Damn. He had actually told her his name. Usually, with the euqal trade of information, it was only fair for her to give him her name as well. "Zinni." she replies back with a curt nod, "And... your..." she trailed off, struggling to form sentences that were accurate enough to describe his strange yet familiar clothes.
"Is that... a..." she gulped slightly, just as the words came to her, "An airbender robe?" she asked cautiously, her eyes finally locked with the others. "W-what are you doing here?" she knew for a fact that all the airbender tribes had been wiped out, nearly a century ago, but yet, she couldn't quite make the connection by how the other managed to get ahold of the clothing either. "H-How did you..." for the first time, she stumbled over her words, as she struggled to talk. Usually, she was a straight-forward, fast talker. And today, the odds were not in her favor.
She coughed slightly, trying to recover from her shock. "So..." she continued on, her oddly soft voice even surprising her. "Do you want to change into... something more... comfortable?" she offered, stealing a quick glance at the empty forest behind them. She didn't necessarily want to be caught with the foreign boy, nor did she want him to be seen. "Let's go." she says with a worried tone, taking the boy's wrist as she guided him towards her secret hideout. "Wait here." she gestured for the male to wait, as she grabbed ahold of the branch, climbing the tree with ease until she got to the top, grabbing her extra stash of male clothing(her foster father's old clothes that she stole one day) and jumped down, landing softly on the ground, using the mix of her earthbending and little did she know, a bit of airbending, to control her landing. Although it was a long drop, she was used to this type of 'parkour' activity. She small grin appeared on her face as she handed the boy the set of clothes, "Here, I think this is your size."
@[A] Zinni Looking around as the son broke through the soft clouds floating in the sky, Donghae ruffled his hair and squinted against the brightness, trying to see ahead of him without the glare. He wasn't sure where he was going, as everything in his mind was quite fuzzy, but his body kept moving, signalling that it was taking him somewhere. Finding himself on a grassy plain, he looked across the horizon to see a blue sea, and memories suddenly came back. He walked faster until he reached the edge of the cliff and stared out at the blue expanse below, and surrounding him. The horizon blended with the blue of the sky, creating a magnificent turquoise blend of colors on the edge of his vision. It really was beautiful, and yet, it pained him to look at for some reason.
Tearing his eyes away from the site, he realized that tears had been dripping down his cheeks and he quickly wiped them off. 'Why am I crying?' he thought before suddenly hearing a noise a bit off. Looking up again just as he finished drying his face, he saw something jumping from pillar to pillar of jagged rock jutting from the depths of the sea at the edge of the cliff. His eyes widened as he noted they were coming closer and closer to him, and he backed up as the girl (which he noted as she got closer) jumped up onto the cliff and stared at him. Donghae was dumbfounded at how graceful she was with her movements, each of them fluid and precise. Finally, after a few moments, he regained his senses enough to hear her talk.
"Ah...um, I'm Donghae..." he said quietly, immediately feeling just a bit shy and out of place under her cold stare. Holding onto his arm, he wished he had changed his clothes before coming to this place. He was currently wearing his orange and blue colored airbending robes (I guess you could call them robes). His left arm had a sleeve while his right arm didn't have one, his shorts stopping just above his knees. Biting the inside of his cheek, he noted that he wasn't wearing shoes, but faintly remembered he was accustomed to walking around with bare feet. Looking back up at the girl through his dark brown fringe, he wondered who she was, but didn't ask.
@Donghae Zinni took in a deep breath, stretching out her arms as the cool breeze picking up, ruffling her long hair behind her. It was a sort of natural instinct to her, the wind almost seeming to be a part of her, just as she was connected to the earth. A grin spread across her face, as she closed her eyes, focusing on her element, as she dropped down towards the sea below. But before she could even splash or make contact with the water, a column of earth rose up from the deep blue, shooting up, just as she made a perfect flip, landing softly onto the soft earth that she had created below her.
Ah, the powers of the earth. Being able to soar, and yet being once again connected to the rock. She closed her eyes once again, mentally calculating the distance that she had to jump into order to reach the other column, then the next, and the next. She grinned again, as she made constant contact with the incoming column. Flipping once again, she landed in a crouch, opening her eyes again before she could feel slight vibrations in the earth. Something was coming. Her eyes narrowed into slits, as she turned towards the incoming figure. It was rare for anyone to come in this area, much less even try to find her when she was out. The heck?
She squinted, only making out the male's distinct features. After all, she was about a good 30 meters out from the cliff, and her vision wasn't that great. Judging from his clothes, the male definitely wasn't from her tribe. Her smile turned into a small frown, as she started for the cliff again, leaping gracefully from each column to the each until she had made it to the cliff. "And who are you?"
