@ kim joonmyun At first she wasn't remotely sure what to do with so many different schematics. It appeared that his creator was incredibly thorough and if they ever met she reminded herself to thank them for it. "Computer would be nice and then I can save them from there, if that is okay." She replied and walked to the computer again to get the cord. "Do you have anything in there about the process for fabrication? Like components, materials, and things of that nature?" The girl looked at him curiously as she plugged him in again.
@park bom It was certainly strange to have someone inspecting him as she was, her gentle fingers ghosting over the damage done. When she asked for information about his design he searched his database and was able to pull up a system file that contained 23 paired schematics and 6 network files. "I have them" he said simply. "how would you like me to display them? I can project them through my eyes or if you connect me to that computer over there I can bring them up on the screen." he said looking at her curiously when he finished his sentence.
@ kim joonmyun The way he put his questions gave her something to think about but it didn't take long for her to form an opinion of her own because she had considered situations similar. "Not used. You are not a tool. Instead you can choose to do those things to save someone else. To me it is similar to a policeman or fireman, a person who goes into dangerous situation for humans in order to save lives." she reasoned and looked up at him with a big smile.
"Of course I will accept your help. I am not sure what I am going to need yet but I will try not to ask for much." Bom said as she moved closer to him again and examined the physical damage done to his body. "The first thing I am going to need your help with is fixing you. Someone took a lot of care in building you and I want to return you to excellent working condition. Did your creator give you any of this kind of information?"
@park bom A happy smile spread on his face when she said that he could want things and that she would have him. When she explained herself further, the lines of confusion returned to his face and he said "but I am not human, I can do things a human could not or should not do...so should I not be used for those things that might be harmful to a human?" he asked.
nodding again when she continued her explanation and then dropped the subject. "I would very much like that...I want to be able to help you"
There was a short pause as his synthetic brain did it's best to string together his next thought. "I would like to accept your help on one condition though, Please allow me to help you in return, for all that you have done for me and seemingly are going to do for me."
@ kim joonmyun His snap made her jump slightly and she looked at him with wide eyes. It was something she hadn't quite expected but then again he was malfunctioning slightly so anything could happen. "It's fine. I understand you are going through a lot right now. There is a lot of information to process and things have changed from what they used to be." Bom replied and gave him a comforting smile.
The woman felt her heart sink a bit at his questions and she was a little mad at herself. What if she had been trying to better the robot without thinking what it's original creator had wanted? "I think you should be allowed to want things." she said quietly. "The moment someone had given you life you are given the same respects and opportunity and rights as a human. At least that is how I feel and I want to help you in any way I can if you accept it." Bom paused again as she considered his offer. "If that is what you wish to do then I will be happy to have you, but only as long as that is what you choose."
@park bom "No!" he snapped quickly and adamantly. A moment later his system seemed to catch up and he realized that he had snapped at a creator which was strictly forbidden according to his system. he hung his head "I'm sorry..I didn't mean to..." referring to how he had snapped.
"I want to be more me.." he continued but clammed up again, when his internal protocol failed him once again, "Am...Am I allowed to want things?" he asked his eyes wide and innocent... Suddenly a connection fired and a thought occurred to him "you said you live alone, do you have need for a robot? I may be broken now but my design specifications say that I am supposed to guard and protect, perhaps I could do that for you?"
@ kim joonmyun It was odd for him to thank her for it but she accepted it with a smile anyway. "I don't need you to repay me or anything because it isn't a big deal. It would be weird to just have left you out there anyway. Besides, I got nothing else to do. I just live alone." Bom commented sadly and shrugged her shoulders.
"You introduced yourself to me as Suho. I could probably look into your files and see what I can do to recover them but it will take time." she explained and then turned towards him. "I can fix that pain thing though. I upgraded your system to be able to handle more information than you currently have. Your creator will be able to increase the sophistication of your AI by almost double, make you more you. You will be able to retain more memories and form connections between them closer to that of a human brain."
It was only then that Bom paused and bit her lower lip. "If you think that is bad and you don't want it then I can remove it." she offered and pulled out a set like the one he had before. "Would that be preferable?"
@park bom "Thank you for taking care of me." he said looking into Bom's eyes. There was an unwavering sincerity in him that hadn't been there before " I'm sorry I've become a burden to you. I hope, that one day I can repay you for your kindness."
Looking around the small space he took in all of the details of the workshop, "Suho...Guardian..." he said perplexed his system still trying to find an answer.
It still seemed out of place and another name, Joonmyun, kept coming up as he flicked through the files in his restored hard drive, schematic files, network scripts and data files that seemed to never end... "If I am Suho...Then who is Joonmyun?" he asked confusion still lingering in his voice.
Suho shook his head quickly when the other offered to turn off his pain, "I don't think this is pain caused by damage, it doesn't feel like that...It's just-... Its weird, it's like my system is working too fast or something..." he sighed.
@ kim joonmyun The fact that he didn't know who he was scared the crap out of her and she stood up immediately. Her brain went over every single step wondering if there was something wrong with what she had done. As far as she knew that wasn't the case but she went to her computer to double check on her own, answering him as she went.
"You are Suho, or at least that is the name you gave me when I found you earlier in the underground. Right now you are in my work space, I did not create you but I am trying to fix you." she answered and then looked up at him worriedly when he mentioned the pain receptors. "Damn. Would you like me to shut those off? You have sustained damage and I haven't yet been able to make it better."
@park bom "Suho...is-is that me?" he asked curiously after his service panels sealed shut once again, and he swung his body into a sitting position, dragging his for the time being useless legs with him. "Where am I? Did you create me? What happened?" Questions flooded his mind at a rate much faster than he had anticipated.
He shook his head a bit trying to adjust, "Why are pain receptors in my brain firing?" He looked up at the programmer named Bom who may or may not be his creator, a bewildered mask of confusion on his face.
@ kim joonmyun When the robot seemed to start up again she stepped back and gave him room to process and adjust. So far everything appeared to be functioning normally but she didn't want to jump to conclusions. If something were off it should show up pretty quickly as his self scan kicked on.
"Hello there. Suho, right?" she asked and waved to him cutely. "I am Bom. Park Bom. I design artificial intelligence and even wrote the basic code that was used for your emotion program. It's nice to meet you."
@park bom It was almost like waking up from a deep sleep, as the systems in his brain came back online, one after the next, the thin bioluminescent wires that indicated full system functionality came to life in his brain slowly glowing brighter with each passing second. With two blinks and gentle sigh his fingers twitched and came back to life as his HU_Functionality and Mobility systems came back online. He was staring at what appeared to be the surface of a metal table and his neural network was telling him that it was cold. The panel covering his Central processing units and motherboards slid shut.
He turned his head to the side and let out a cautious, "Hello?" Searching for someone, anyone in the dim room.
@ kim joonmyun Her face was calm as she watched him but her eyes were full of concern, almost tearing up as his voice box cut out. "I will." she whispered back to him. "I promise." It filled her with sadness to see such a beautiful creation destroyed with such obvious malice and she shook her head as more and more damage became apparent.
With renewed will she picked up his chip and loaded it up into her computer. Unlike the physical damage there seemed to be not much wrong with his programming. Some corruption or lost files here and there but everything seemed mostly intact as far as she could tell.
Sliding her glasses on she scanned right through for his internal diagnostics and pulled up a map. Sure enough it was a functional schematic which told her not only what was wrong but what it should be. With this tool she would be able to fix most of him, provided she could get the parts since she wasn't much for making them.
"Alright. I've got you." she whispered to herself as she rolled on her chair over to her cabinets. Inside were hundreds if not thousands of chips, ram sticks, circuit boards, and just about anything she would need to build the most kickass computer in the world. Now with his schematics she knew exactly what was supposed to be inside of him so she could replace it... or upgrade it as she saw fit. "Definitely going to upgrade your processing speed since now I know your cooling system can handle it."
With almost inhuman speed she pulled out what she needed and headed back to the robot. Her toolkit was already under the table so she positioned her light and magnifying glass right where they needed to be. Very carefully she started to remove the damaged boards and chips near his CPU. It would be slow for her but she needed to make sure that everything was put back into place or better than when he was new.
Hours passed and she was well past the point of being tired when she was finally done with his neural network. Everything had been replaced with new or better gear and the only physical mechanical parts were still broken. The computer was fine but the robot's body itself would have to wait until she was more capable. At least she could turn him back on though.
With a deep breath she pulled away from him and stretched her aching limps and lower back. It had been a long day but she was convinced it would be worth it and as she pulled his chip out of her computer and put it back into him she had a big sleepy grin on her face. "Good morning sunshine."
@park bom Suho tried, he really did to find the proper file but no matter how hard he tried he could not access the files "I can't..." he said before a different option occurred to him "My interface won't open the files but perhaps you-u-u..." his voice box shorting briefly before it rebooted "can fix it" he said before yet another set of small motors was activated and the panel that covered Suho's neck split in half and lifted slowly off to the sides. Within was a panel of circuit boards, a few of them had obvious blunt force trauma. "Please, take good care of me..." he said. There was a short click and a pause. Then something inside of him began to whirr at a high frequency, it must have been approximately 30 seconds before a small rectangular chip slid from one of the ports in his neck.
@ kim joonmyun The red-head paid almost no attention to him as he undressed, only caring that he was laying in the right position so that she could better service him. At that moment, all she cared about was getting him hooked up for power and repairing what she could. Any thoughts towards modesty were nowhere near her top priority. To Bom it was more similar to a patient coming in for emergency surgery than an attractive piece of machinery to desire and that was how she treated him.
She did have to stop and marvel the design and engineering as she watched his entire back open up. It was something she had seen a few times but it always took her breath away. The smooth motions and sleek look were definitely a sight to admire but she had to remind herself that he needed her help first; the rest could come later.
"Thank you." she told him as she stood over him and removed the power cell she had placed inside of him before and replaced it with a cord. His battery didn't seem to have any damage so she guessed it was just low from trying to function with the broken limbs and pushed to its limits.
Now that she was closer she could see with greater detail what and where things were going wrong. With his spine showing damage she hesitated and bit her lower lip. Nervous systems were always incredibly intricate and she wasn't sure that she was up to snuff to repair it without possibly doing more damage. She would have to study a bit more before attempting that. "Do you have a file for your schematics that I can see?"
@park bom He looked around at the place she, this Bom, called her home. When she told him what to do, he executed the order without hesitation and swung his body up and onto the table fully, pushing himself forward so that his legs were also on the table. He pulled the shirt he was wearing off without hesitation or modesty before lying on his stomach on the table.
Pausing a thought came to him and instead of only opening his port interface he said "perhaps this will make it easier to work". The quiet wirr of small motors coming to life within his system filled the room as lines appeared on his back and neck.
The panel for his port opened once again but this time, instead of the panel swinging down to show the port, it lifted and then split in half, folding down and into specially designed compartments.
Then an additional set of motors sprung into life, their quiet wirr creating a seam that ran along his spine . Two definite panels became clear, the panels lifted up and away, sliding out over his shoulder blades showing the intricate circuitry of what appeared to be some semblance of nerves that radiated out along his metallic ribs.
Small blue lights illuminated his spine, one at each vertebra. The light cast an eerie glow on his silver-gray muscles and tissue The bottom three though, gave of a red glow indicating damage.
@ kim joonmyun After a few minutes he gave a response and she smiled at how happy he seemed to be able to give it. "Well it is nice to meet you Suho. My name is Bom." she replied and turned down one of the less populated avenues to get to her workshop. At least his memory wasn't completely gone and that meant there was enough to recover and save.
When they reached her back door she let go of one of his legs and typed in her code to open the door. It slid open with a smooth hiss and she quickly stepped inside. The lights came on automatically but she basically ignored it all as she closed the door behind them and slipped off her shoes. There was a robot in need of help and she was going to do just that.
"This is my home and work space." she explained as she headed down the stairs with him and carefully set him on her main work table in the center of the room. Bom set her bag aside and knelt beside the table to pull out the appropriate cord to charge him properly instead of the make-shift battery patch she had made for him. "I am going to need you to lay on your font and open your port again for me. I will start there with the repairs while you charge and go bit by bit. You have sustained quite a lot of damage."
@park bom He settled himself against her back as carefully as he could. He couldn't feel it when she pulled his legs up to hold him in a piggy back position but adjusted himself so that he would rest more comfortably on her back. Settling his chin into the crook of her neck he did his best to answer her question, searching his database for any information on a name...Error....Error...Error, no matter how he searched he couldn't access the information, his search terms bringing up error after error until finally he found it, "Suho, I think..." he said, a happy grin stretching across his face.
(Suho is actually his design name, he is built to protect and take care of whoever he is programed to look after. His real name is Joonmyun (the one his creator gave him) but he won't know that until his ROM, AI_RAM and AI-ROM are working again... and depending on how much needs to be rebuilt he may never remember it, unless of course his creator shows up again :))
@ kim joonmyun Even though the things weren't working properly there were moments when she could see his personality and programming shining through. That was exactly why she had tried to get him running again. Those programs and memories could be damaged or lost if he shut off due to lack of power and she didn't want that. Someone put a lot of time and effort into making this robot exactly who he was and she wanted to preserve that if she could.
Bom reached down and grabbed onto both of his legs like she was giving him a piggy-back ride before getting back up. Rather than drag them behind her where they could get caught on stuff she thought it would be safer for them both if she held them. Not that he was too much taller than her but it was enough to make things complicated for them both.
"It's not a problem." she said back and smiled before she stood, the weight not being too much for her. "I am going to take you to my place, I don't live far and I should be able to fix some of your problems." Maybe if the robot was sentient enough he could help her figure out how to repair the rest. That was her hope as she started walking. "So what is your name?"
@park bom "Are you sure?" he asked cautiously, circuits connecting within him so that at least a shadow of his programmed personality began to shine through. "I weigh approximately 30kg..."
Her insistence and the mention of those who would wish him and anyone associated with him ill made his basic programing for risk assessment kick in. The risk of staying here and having her associated with him was greater than the risk to her back from his weight.
With the utmost care wrapped his arms around her shoulders carefully pressing his chest against her back. His legs hung uselessly below him, whatever junction in his spine that allowed functionality to his legs severed.
"Thank you...for saving me" he said quietly, the link to his AI established once again however tenuous.
@ kim joonmyun Getting him functional was going to be a rough journey but one she felt that she could do with his help. He didn't seem aware of her intentions and that was alright, it would come with time. The next thing on her to-do list was moving him and she was just working through the hows and where when she was interrupted by his diagnostics.
The red-head stared with wide eyes and pulled out a pen and notebook to jot down as much as she could. He had sustained a lot of damage, some she was sure she could fix without help and some that was a bit beyond her capabilities. Bom was primarily a programmer, not a fabricator or manufacturer of any kind, so rebuilding might become a bit of a problem unless he could give her some help.
"Let's get you out of here before someone else comes along." she said as she adjusted her bag and squatted in front of the robot with her back facing him. "Climb on and we will get you safe and fixed."
@park bom With a sharp intake of breath, his body began to work again, basic human characteristics resurfacing. Once the girl had moved her fingers out of the way the panel on his back hissed shut quickly and he leaned back to look at this new person. "Hello," he said, a cautious smile pushing its way on to his lips, the corners of his eyes crinkling warmly. "Thank you for--" his head twitched mechanically and a grimace crossed his face. What is this feeling? he thought searching the database he found the answer, Pain - noun, physical suffering or discomfort caused by illness or injury. He paused suddenly confused, but robots don't get sick, do they? Confusion replaced the grimace of pain on the robots face. His attention turned back to the female " please excuse, me I seem to be malfunction-n-n-ning" he stuttered out before turning his attention back inward to initiate a full system scan...one of the broken peices inside of him had inadvertently switched on the projector function of his eyes and it displayed in the air before the script from his system check...

@ kim joonmyun Hearing about the robot's mechanical issues was almost heartbreaking for Bom. Even though logically she knew it wasn't really alive in the traditional sense or possibly even sentient she didn't care. To her it was sad to see such an amazing creation in such disrepair and she wanted to help as best as she could.
As he leaned forward so did she, ignoring the synthetic carnage to try and get to the main problem rectified. The robot wasn't one of her design nor any she was familiar with so she wasn't sure what she would find beneath the panel. Unfortunately her power cell wouldn't quite fit into the port as it was so she had to think of another solution, even if only temporary.
Her mind quickly ran over the checklist of parts and tools in her bag as she tried to remember if she had a converter. The port was one she had seen and worked with before so she sometimes carried around just the right piece to bridge the gap between it and the power cell. "I would tell you not to worry but I don't think you are the sophisticated yet." she told him as her hand dipped back into the bag and in a pocket for the piece. "Gotcha."
A satisfied smile curled on her lips as she pulled the converter out and immediately began installing it into the robot. It only took a few seconds despite all of the damage and she had the power cell hooked up shortly after. There wasn't enough to run him for long, an hour or two at the most, but hopefully it would be enough to get him back to her workshop.
@park bom The robot's eyes flickered open, the dilated mechanical irises focusing on the face that had presented itself before him. No emotion flickered in his eyes only mechanical analysis of the human face before him.
"Total system failure imminent," whispered sluggishly through his lips, his voice metallic and disjointed.
She, for this was a human female, asked for his port. The robot paused to search his database for appropriate actions but found no creator defined preservation protocol. Stiffly, he bent forward and pulled his synthetic bio-fluid splattered shirt down to reveal the elegantly scripted "守護"(gaurdian/Suho) that sat at the nape of his neck, just below the junction between his spine and neck.
The panel that covered the robots back between his shoulder blades hissed weakly as lines appeared around its edges. Slowly it lifted up and slid down revealing a crescent shaped opening. Within which the metallic bones and carbon fiber fabric of synthetic muscle tangled together holding a port centered just where the tattoo had been moments earlier.
@ kim joonmyun It was hard for Bom to keep her eyes open as she stumbled out of the little shack that housed her friend's illegal robots. One of them had been on the fritz and she was called in to do some repairs on the female bot's AI. Fortunately it wasn't anything to do with emotions or she would probably still have been in there. Just a few errors with the commands for movements but that was it.
A smile on her face formed as she thought of her own home but that quickly left her mind as she saw what appeared to be a young man sleeping against the wall. There were no movements of the chest for breath or any of the normal human imperfection of motion so she guessed it was a robot but why was he there? Why was he out in the open and why was he alone?
"Hello." she whispered softly and bent down to examine him further. His body was broken and she wondered what happened to have him in such a state. One thing was clear, she couldn't leave him like that and she felt the urge to fix him. "Where is your port?" the red-head asked and dug into her bag for her emergency power cells.
With the last reserves of his energy core the robot pulled his mangled body up and onto the platform. It must be late, his CPU told him it was 3:15 am and the platform was deserted. Dragging his broken legs behind him he turned his back to the wall and sat against it. '1 hour until total system shutdown' flashed across his vision, the edges taking on a red tinge. He didn't want to shut down, didn't want to die but his AI unit would not tell him why. So he did what most robots did when they were about to break down, he put himself in a hibernation state, shutting down all unnecessary functions and hoped that someone sympathetic to the plights of robots would find him.
