"i sometimes come here with the guys from work. well, more like they coerce me into buying them expensive food, but i don't mind." he got himself two pairs of chopsticks and handed one to youngjae. "aaaand, it's been a while since the last time i came here, and i'm reminded that i actually missed it. i was worried there wouldn't be any seats left when we got here, but i guess today's our lucky day."
he turned to face the other and smiled at the question. "funny you should ask that because i was originally thinking of getting burgers or pizza. although i'm more of a traditional korean kinda guy, so korean food will always be my go-to." chanyeol laughed while shaking his head. "now i'm glad you suggested this because your idea was way, way better than mine." he picked up a sushi with his chopsticks and popped the whole thing into his mouth. "and i do know a few places here and there. although i tend to avoid the more touristy ones, if you know what i mean."
"would it have made a bad first impression if i took you to a burger joint?" he suddenly asked, grinning as he looked straight at youngjae. for some reason, chanyeol felt relaxed around the younger guy, like he could be himself. while he's been working in the hospitality industry for years, he still needed to show some sort of persona to keep things professional, and that could be pretty exhausting at times.

@Son Youngjae chanyeol couldn't help but laugh at being called cool. it has been a while since he was called that and it was quite... refreshing."sushi, huh? lucky for you, i know just the place." he said, thinking about the place that was only a couple of blocks away. it's where he would sometimes take his employees to give them a treat for a hard day's work. he grabbed his wallet and keys from under the back counter and made his way to the other side.
"ooh, bossman is going out on a date," one of his employees who just came out from the back teased. chanyeol almost rolls his eyes. "shut it, kim. or you're not getting that extra shift you requested from me." he responds and throws a towel that was lying on the counter. it hit him right in the face but his bartender only laughed, and chanyeol could only shake his head.
before any of his employees could more, he took one of youngjae's hands and made his way to the exit. "sorry about that. they could be a handful sometimes." he said with a chuckle when they finally made it outside, then casually let go of his hand. "this way." he started walking while making sure that youngjae didn't lose him in the crowded sidewalk until they arrived in a place that was almost hidden. he walked inside and there was a counter lined with stools. behind it were two men in uniform, who both greeted them with enthusiasm before going back to making fresh sushi for a couple of customers who were already there. chanyeol led the younger man to a vacant stool, hand gently pressed on his lower back, and waited for him to sit before he settled on the stool beside his.

leaning back, youngjae clasps his hands together, feigning deep thought. “well, since you’ve got the free time… and you seem pretty cool…” he lets the words hang in the air, purposefully trailing off before meeting chanyeol’s gaze again with a casual shrug. “maybe you could take me for sushi? if you’re into that, of course.”
@Son Youngjae "well, i appreciate you going through the trouble." chanyeol winks then straightens his back, eyes instinctively looking around the place he built up through the years. "thank you. it wasn't easy. but i was determined to make it work, so i hired a bunch of capable people, trained them, kept them well compensated and happy. and voila." he shrugs. "now i am able to sit back, and manage things from the background. it also means i have more freedom to do other things." chanyeol gives youngjae an easy smile. "like take you out for dinner, maybe? for going through the trouble of meeting me here."
he glances at his watch. in an hour or so, the bar will get busy with patrons and customers who wants to unwind after a busy days work. but nothing his employees couldn't handle. "is there anything you would like to eat?"
@Chanyeol youngjae chuckles softly, his eyes sparkling with amusement. “pick you up? well, i guess you could say i’m just keeping up my end of the deal,” he says with a playful shrug. “but honestly, you’ve got a pretty nice spot here. how do you juggle running a bar and still have time to join this show?”
as the words leave his lips, youngjae finds himself caught in the contrast between their worlds. his life, with its easy rhythms and remote freedom, feels like a breeze compared to the weight of owning a business—something so rooted, so demanding. there’s a quiet admiration in his gaze, mingled with curiosity, as he tries to imagine what it’s like.

"a boy scout. i like that." he responds. unfortunately, he couldn't say the same for himself. he simply dove headfirst into the show without doing his research about his new roommate. then again, chanyeol doesn't like "spoilers" and he'd rather know the person better through their interactions. well that, and he was too busy managing his business. although now that he's finally able to give the boy a good and closer look, he realizes that the other looks so... young? but before he could voice out his thoughts, another question was throw at him.
"something like that." he answers vaguely. because while owning the business doesn't necessarily mean he has fixed shifts, it also means he's on call 24/7, and he had to be there when something happens just like today. youngjae had good timing though because he came just when chanyeol was wrapping things up. "why? did you come to pick me up?" he couldn't help teasing.
@Chanyeol his stomach knots the moment his eyes meet the other’s, for the older man is even more handsome in person. of course, ever so skilled at masking his reactions, youngjae allows only the faintest flicker of fluster to show at chanyeol’s direct question. but he doesn’t back down from the other’s gaze. instead, amusement flickers across his boyish features.
“let’s just say i like to be prepared… can’t have you being a creepy geezer out for attention, now can we?” he teases, his eyes glimmering with playful defiance. “just finished your shift?”
@Son Youngjae chanyeol was having an off day. he should have been at his new "house" by now but was held up after receiving a call from his flustered bar manager a couple of hours ago about a delivery mix up. now instead of meeting his new roommate, he is dealing with 10 extra crates of alcohol supplies in his storage which he wasn't even supposed to receive until 2 weeks from now.
after giving his supplier some "professional choice words" aka a piece of his mind---something he's not exactly proud of, and finally accepting their appologies, he was down to giving his manager some final instructions before he is able to leave them for the evening.
and that was when chanyeol heard a voice from behind him making him turn to see who it was---and what do you know? an eyecandy was now standing at the opposite side of the bar. "definitely not too busy for... you." thank for years of professional experience in the service industry, because he managed to say 'you' instead of the initial words he almost blurted out---something with 'pretty' and 'face' in it. chanyeol was momentarily confused when the stranger introduced himself with some kind of familiarity, but when it finally clicked, a dimpled smile appeared on his face. he gave his manager a quick nod, a signal that their conversation was over and moved to mirror youngjae's position, folding his arms over the counter before leaning forward. "the pleasure is mine. park chanyeol. but i guess you already know that don't you, youngjae?"

he pushed open the door, and warmth and the scent of citrus hit him immediately. the place had a laid-back vibe, dim lights, low music. youngjae’s eyes scanned the room until they landed on a figure behind the bar—a tall guy with tousled dark hair, focused on his matters. chanyeol.
taking a breath, youngjae confidently approached the bar, a slight grin on his face. “you’re looking awfully busy, sir. are you sure it’s a good time to talk?” he joked, chuckling as he leaned against the counter. “i’m youngjae, by the way, and it’s a pleasure meeting you in the flesh.”
