@☑️ Shixun Jongin grinned when the other had ruffled his hair, continuing to eat his burger like it was the best thing in the world- But it was just because he was very, very hungry. He thinks that if Shixun got him anything, whether it be another meal or tickets, Jongin would pay the man back with his life. He'd give him free doctor visits after he graduated, he'd give him free everything he could...

Every time he'd see him he'd give him free food and free movie tickets or theme park tickets- Jongin couldn't afford all that now, but he'd make sure to definitely pay Shixun back for anything he ever did for him one day, no matter how small. It'd be a burden, and he'd feel ashamed for really not being able to pay him back straight away because of his living situation, but... He didn't want anyone he knew in his life to have to pay for things for Jongin with nothing in return.

Jongin had always been a big enjoyer of food, and was never really taught to have manners around people when he was eating unless he was around people who weren't his parents and who weren't the same age, or younger than him. He was always respectful around people older than him, though, and that was... All he was taught about table manners. How to be respectful in the right situations.

But right now, Jongin is at a fast food restaurant with someone who is the same age as him, so he does not care what Shixun thinks of him right now as he eats to his heart's content, stuffing chips into his burger and chomping down. After fully chewing and swallowing this time, he perked up when he saw Shixun take a bite. "Do you like it? Do you like it? Do you like it?" he asked like an excited puppy who's owner had just come back after three years, wiggling in his seat and looking up at the taller. "Is it yum?" he pushed for an answer, grinning and wiping his mouth with a napkin.

"Of course I do. How do you think I pay my rent off two ty jobs and one ty internship?" he laughed, obviously joking, but winking just for comedic effect.

@jongin "You're missing out on all the fun things in life," Shixun said and laughed softly, a hand reaching over to ruffle Jongin's hair affectionately. He was pondering on not simply inviting Jongin, but buy him tickets to join him on his next vacation, but figured that the other wouldn't want that. It was too much from Shixun's side, considering that they were just friends. From Shixun's point of view, being showered with presents from friends was absolutely okay. He randomly bought presents for his friends when they were low on money but found something they really, really wanted, and he received presents in return, too. Shixun just loved to spend money on people and see them happy, but since Jongin wouldn't be able to do that in return, he would probably feel burdened by presents instead.

He shook his head and chuckled when Jongin started eating and spoke with food in his mouth. If it were Shixun doing that at home, he would be chided for having bad table manners. After all, he needed to be presentable to both the public eye and his father's colleagues and business partners. If people thought rich kids had a fun life being spoiled, then it was only half true. As much as they had an almost limitless amount of money to spend, they had to go through proper education, too, including things that middle class families would not force their kids to go through.

So when Shixun spoke it was only after properly chewing and swallowing the food in his mouth. "My parents are great parents," he agreed, not adding anything on to it because it was a fact. He didn't need to explain it. His parents were loving and caring and easy-going for the most part. Shixun grew up sheltered, but he also grew up learning how to be a proper human being, too.

He picked up the burger and stared at it for a second, wondering how to eat this without making a mess. There was already sauce and juices dripping down from the burger, so that meant he had to eat up quickly, right? Taking a bite, he just shook his head at Jongin. He set down the burger and wiped his fingers on a tissue, already working on a reply in his mind.

"Huh, didn't know you offer your body for money," Shixun said and smirked, only to tease his new friend.

@☑️ Shixun "You'd let me do that?" he asked softly, tilting his head. "I've never been in a villa and I've never been on a vacation anywhere so far from my home, that'd... Honestly be very fun for me," he said, nibbling on a fry and opening up his sauce to dip his fries into, wiggling around in his seat happily, mumbling with food in his mouth, "I love fooooood, I looove food~" he sung jokingly, his stomach growling, literally asking for more.

"I think your life is really cool," he hummed, his words slightly muffled by the chips, but he tried his best to speak and satisfy his rumbly stomach at the same time, hoping his new friend didn't mind his bad manners. "Sorry, I'm hungry, I hope you don't mind-" he said, hiccupping a little before he had gone to take in another chip, unwrapping his burger, now. "I think you're cool. The stereotype is that rich kids are kids," he said, shrugging, "But I think you're really, really cool, Shixun," he said, pronouncing his name a lot better than he had before hand. "Your parents did well bringing you up. They must be just as beautiful as you are."

Jongin bit into his burger now, glaring at the other and swallowing. "You sound silly," he shot back, though that... Didn't make much sense. He tapped on his friend's wrapped burger. "Eat, eat, eat! It's a Whopper Jr, you'll /love/ it," he smiled, a little bit of the Whopper sauce on his bottom lip.

"Also," he started, sitting up happily. "For another smack you'd have to pay my month's rent," he laughed, obviously joking just as much as Shixun was. "How much would I have to pay you for a payback smack?" he asked with a smirk, resting his head in his hand and his elbow on the table, tilting his head cheekily.

@jongin "If you like nature, you can tag along on my next vacation to our summer villa," Shixun offered with a little smile. "The closest town is like two miles away and we're right by the beach, but there's a tropical forest, too. I'm not too fond of the forest, though. Too many insects." And at the mention of bugs, Shixun immediately scrunched up his nose.

"Don't look so surprised," he said, nudging his friend. Now he felt a bit awkward, wondering if the other was now looking down on him for being such a spoiled kid. If he were around other rich kids, they would never bring up the topic of how big their houses were or how many people they hired to take care of their home - it was a given.

"How much do I have to pay for another smack?" Shixun quickly retorted and stuck out his tongue, indicating that this was just a joke. As nice as Jongin's buttocks felt, he wasn't much into spanking others. If it were the other way around, then that would be a different question.

"You sound silly," Shixun just chuckled and sat down, still staring at the food in front of them, not knowing where to start eating. He opted for the safe route and ate a fry first, that was a kind of food no one could ruin, right? And it turned out to be okay. He wasn't a big fan of mayonnaise, so as long as he stuck to ketchup, it was fine.

@☑️ Shixun "Ah, yes, I think I would like the countryside a lot, actually..."

Jongin hummed softly and listened to the other explain about his family's workers, nodding slowly, lips parted into an 'O' shape as he slowly began to understand. "Ooooh I see, your property must be really, really big then." He mumbled, very surprised at the fact that there could be houses so big. "Ah, that's cool..." Jongin trailed off, thinking about all this new information he had just learnt, thinking that it sounded like a movie.

Nodding in understanding when the other had answered, he left it at that, not wanting to pry at something so sensitive anymore than he already had. He smiled up at Shixun- until he felt his slapped. Gasping a little and turning to Shixun with a frown, "I'll give you that one for free..." he mumbled softly, turning back around and laughing a little.

Jongin's meals were always either under or just over ten dollars, unless he was being fancy and went to that nice burger place, that sold their burgers for 15 dollars, and their chips for 8. That was like a treat for him, he really loved that place. Leading the other to the table after saying thank you, he sat down happily and looked up at Shixun with a wide smile. "It's eating time!" he said, in the style of the Power Ranger's 'it's morphin' time'.

"You can't believe it?" he laughed, shaking his head. "There are sooo many places that are this cheap, and this good. Welcome to the world of Kim Jongin, fast-food enthusiast and professional eater!"

@jongin ( it's ok, no worries xD )

"Of course there's more to see in Beijing," Shixun said and laughed softly, shaking his head. "But you're the type of person who likes simple things, so I think you should go travel the countryside instead."

He stuck his tongue out after saying that, clearly teasing the other, but quickly changed to a more serious tone to talk about his life at home. He wasn't really bragging, actually, he felt rather uncomfortable talking about his life since he was one of those privileged kids that people, who weren't sharing that kind of lifestyle, would frown upon. Kids like Shixun were quickly labelled as arrogant, even though he was just stating facts and replying to curious questions.

"Our property is large so we can't take care of it by ourselves," Shixun explains, a hand rubbing at his nape. "They're helping us with taking care of the garden and the house. I live in my own apartment here, my parents bought me one, and they also arranged for someone to come and help me with housework once a week."

"Not yet," he mumbled and shook his head. It wasn't that Shixun purposely kept a secret, but he just couldn't find the right time to address the matter. His parents would probably - hopefully - not disown him and still love him the same, but at times he found himself worrying about that matter. But as long as they were not pressuring him to bring someone home to introduce to them, and as long as Shixun was not dating, things were fine the way they are.

He hissed when Jongin hit his stomach and followed the other inside, a hand slapping Jongin's in retaliation. "Ya, that hurt just now," he defended his action with a pout. "A smack on the is nothing in comparison to your blow earlier."

Shixun tried hard to act normal, but when he heard how much he had to pay for their meal, he was astonished. He had never had a meal for under ten bucks before, heck, even that was rare. Usually, he would spend at least twenty if he were to eat outside instead of eating at home. But he quickly closed his mouth that opened slightly in surprise and paid with his credit card.

"Fine, if you insist, you can pay for bingsu," Shixun said and rolled his eyes. He was yet again surprised when the food was presented on the tray for them almost right away, and since he was standing closer, he took the tray and carefully balanced it, following Jongin to an unoccupied table.

"I can't believe how cheap the food here is," he muttered and stared down at the food in front of them.

@☑️ Shixun (Rip I lied /now/ I'm free for two weeks hahahahahaha. That's okie dokieee~)

Jongin rolled his eyes. "You don't have anything to say about anything else?" he laughed, shaking his head. "So the only good thing in Beijing is your villa and the food?" Jongin smiled and shrugged. "Well I guess that's all you need in life, a warm home and nice food. Especially the food part." The boy.. Was definitely very, very hungry.

"You have.. Staff...? In... The family home that you live in?" Jongin asked, once again shocked by.. Everything that came out of Shixun's mouth. This was insane? How could he have staff working in a family home? Jongin was beginning to realise that Shixun wasn't just rich, but he was /very/ rich. "Do you... Live alone now? Here in Seoul?" he asked, wondering if Shixun was used to doing things like washing clothing and dishes, and cleaning... Jongin couldn't imagine being able to pay someone to work in his house.

Us..? Jongin looked up at the other, very... Careful about addressing the subject. "So are you... You know..." he asked, shrugging a little and not wanting to say the word out loud incase Shixun wasn't okay with it being known to people who were around them. "And if so, do your parents know?" he asked. Jongin's parents didn't. They were always asking when he was going to get a girlfriend and bring her home, he didn't have the guts to tell them that it was... Probably never going to happen. Jongin hadn't met many homouals out here in South Korea, especially not in the medical field...

"Stop laughing at me!" he pouted, hitting the other's stomach with the back of his hand and frowning. "I'm hungry... I'm always hungry. Just for that, I'm going to let you pay now," he mumbled, huffing as he moved into the Burger King after being pushed towards it, "I was not drooling!" he hissed once they were inside, though a smile came onto his face, because it was hard not to smile with someone like Shixun around.

He moved up to order for the two, and was very excited about ordering, leaning on the counter and staring up at the menu like it was God himself. After finishing the order he turned to Shixun and smiled, "Your turn," he said, moving away so that Shixun could pay. He was very grateful for the other already. He'd pay him back for sure. Maybe he'd buy Shixun something next time they hung out? Food, or something for his camera.. Jongin thought about that as he waited. He never liked people doing things for him and not getting anything in return.

"I can pay for the Bingsu," he said softly, remembering where they were going next, and realising he could pay his new friend back with dessert.

@jongin ( nice :3 i can't promise quick replies tho bc... uhm... well, no excuses, i'm just slow in general? xD )

"Oh, that," Shixun said and chuckled. He had never really seen people of any nation as special because surely, due to culture, there would be differences in manners, but in general, he thought people everywhere to be the same. There were good and bad people, friendly and grumpy people, selfless and egoistic people everywhere. It all depended on luck on who one would meet.

"I guess... the food is pretty good?" He offered with soft laughter and shook his head at Jongin's questions. It made it seem like villas were extraordinary, but Shixun didn't think of the villa he grew up in as anything too special. It was okay, not as fancy as his friends' houses since his parents preferred clean, sleek, modern architecture over unnecessary decorations.

"It's a nice house and big enough to throw parties, I guess? But we don't usually do that," Shixun said. "My mom doesn't like having too many people around. They'd only create more work for our staff."

Since Jongin was getting up, Shixun, too, got ready to get off the bus at the next stop. He held his phone in his hand, knowing that he had to swipe his transportation card before leaving the bus.

"Asian societies in general aren't very accommodating to us," he whispered, wondering if Jongin understood the hint he was giving. "But I think, what matters is the family's acceptance. As long as my parents are supportive, I think I wouldn't mind." Apart from that, Shixun was going to work in and with the entertainment industry where he could easily meet 'same-minded' people. It wasn't just a stereotype, not in Beijing at least, where he had met plenty of actors, singers and other kinds of artists who were more or less openly gay.

"I was just thinking of ways to save your wallet," Shixun chuckles and nudged Jongin back, a sweet grin on his face that turned into a full blown laughter when he saw Jongin's expression once they arrived in front of Burger King.

"You're drooling, my friend," he said and pushed Jongin into the fast food place, following the other.

@☑️ Shixun (Okay so Uni work is not going to pick up again until two weeks after today so I will reply quicker! Thank you for your patienceeee)

"Oh.. I guess every major city is pretty similar," he said softly, "But I was more wondering about the culture and the people," he chuckled. "I've been to smaller towns in Korea that don't look so great, but the people are fantastic, and I've met horribly rude people here in the big, beautiful looking city," he shrugged. "I don't really care about the location... Just the people," he smiled. Simple minded Jongin. "I've always wondered what a villa looks like from the inside," he said curiously. "Is it as big as it looks from the outside?"

Jongin didn't think he'd ever take up Shixun's offer, honestly, simply because he could never see himself going to Beijing with what little money he had, but he really does appreciate the generosity of the other's words. It means a lot to him that he would even think about letting Jongin anywhere near his family home. What a nice boy.

Jongin could literally see his words finally click in Shixun's mind after he had asked what he meant by 'people like me', and chuckled softly, getting ready to get off of the bus at the next stop. "Yeah. People like me.." he mumbled softly, "If Australia passes their marriage equality bill, I could get married there I guess. Otherwise, I'd take them to America," he hummed, shrugging. "Korea isn't too accomodating..." he said as he hopped off the bus and waved at the driver as a thank you, looking back at the other and leading him down the street.

"Ah, so we are officially friends then?" he asked. "You'd be my first friend here. I'm glad you're receptive to the idea of becoming friends with plain old me," he said dramatically, obviously joking around. "I'm glad we're friends," he grinned, "So, we're in the heart of Seoul city," he cooed. "But I'm guessing you've already been here- This is the place that most foreigners go first and foremost."

"Excuse me," he huffed, rolling his eyes when he imitated his face. "Sorry mister flash-my-money around!" he scoffed, nudging Shixun. "Whatever, waste your copious amounts of money," he laughed, "Gosh." With a smile on his face, making sure he was going in the right direction, he lead Shixun to pure heaven- The takeout place. Burger King! Jongin might drool right here just looking at the sign, he thinks.
Shixun 7 years ago
@jongin "Beijing, huh?" Shixun repeated and hummed softly, thinking about the question for a minute. He never really thought much about the place he grew up in and lived since all of his life he had been travelling the world. His parents were able to afford an extravagant life, so he didn't know much about Beijing except for the glamorous parts that were his neighborhood and places he frequented, as well as some of the more hip and trendy areas where youngsters would go, so he was surely not the right one to ask these kinds of questions.

"I can only talk about the nice parts of Beijing, you know?" Shixun said and shrugged. "It's a lot like Seoul I guess, where you have those super nice, sleek office buildings, then the areas with expensive villas and then you have places that don't look like anything you'd expect in a metropole."

"But yes," he chuckled softly. "We're friends, so you can stop by anytime."

It wasn't weird to invite friends over to one's place, right? Shixun might be wrong on this, but he thought Jongin was a good person. If he was mistaken, he would know sooner or later, and even then he wouldn't regret inviting someone over who he thought of as friend. The worst Jongin could do would be destroying their house but Shixun's parents had enough money to replace and renovate their house.

"Wait, what do you mean by people like you?" Shixun asked and frowned. It only dawned to him a moment later that the only reason for someone to not be able to marry, would be their ual orientation. It was the same in China as well, though Shixun didn't worry about that. His parents were too loving to force him to marry a girl. They loved him too much to not let him go and chase after his dreams and what would make him happy.

"I mean, yes," he said and shook his head, more so because of the sad reality of homouals not being able to love freely and marry, having the same rights as any other heteroual couples. "We're friends already, no?" He gave the other a friendly smile, one hand patting Jongin's back.

"May I remind you," Shixun imitated the other's expression. "I have more money on my bank account than you can earn within a month. I'll buy lunch today."
jongin 7 years ago
@Hun "What's Beijing like?" he asked, looking up at the other with curious eyes. He knew he had to technically wait ten minutes to ask his next question, because as the book says, it keeps people from getting annoyed, but he was just so curious, he wanted to know everything. "You have a villa? Jesus..." he mumbled, a shocked expression on his face. "That's crazy... I think I'd go to Beijing just to see your villa," he laughed softly, resting his head against the window and watching for their stop to come up later.

"Well... I don't really want to get married," he admitted. "I definitely want children, but I'd... Probably have to adopt. I don't like the idea of marriage, and plus, this is South Korea... Um- People like me... We can't marry.." he whispered the last parts, shifting a little uncomfortably in his seat, though a smile returned to his face, looking up at the other. "You'd do something so big like that for free? For someone you just met an hour or two ago?"

Jongin would describe himself as more of a toy poodle- Like his three dogs. He really liked poodles. They're always cute, and cuddly. "My excitement would be even better if you were excited," he grinned, "You don't look like the type to be very... Emotional?" he nodded slowly. "You're very calm, I think that's good. You can help me level out my emotions," he laughed.

"I can't let you pay for everything, by the way. You just spent like 50 dollars on printing, may I remind you. I can pay," he smiled, "But I will definitely get you the best burger they have. You'll love the fries, too. You'll love it all!"
Shixun 7 years ago
@jongin When the other stopped talking for a moment, Shixun grew worried. Was Jongin already running out of topics to talk about or was the other starting to feel tired of him? Shixun wasn't too sure what to say. It felt weird to just continue talking after a pause that was meant for the other to add a question or some sort of comment, so he just walked quietly next to Jongin, folloing the other to the bus stop. When they managed to get on the bus and take a seat, that was when the silence was finally broken.

"Beijing," Shixun replied, easily sharing personal information. "If you ever plan on going there, I can be your tour guide. You could stay at my place, too. We have plenty guest rooms in our villa." The invitation might seem too early, but for Shixun who already regarded the other as friend, it only felt right to do so.

"Wow, don't tell me you're not planning on finding someone?" He said and cocked his head to a side, eyeing the other strangely. "Human beings are social beings. They don't want to end up all alone. And if you do have a partner, even if she's simply, she would still want the wedding day to be properly photographed. And that's when I, your photographer friend, will jump in to help. I'll even do it for free!"

He chuckled at the other's reaction, not even needing to point out that, yes, Jongin was no different from a pup - one of the cute, excited and cheerful ones at that. There were also the unfriendly ones, but Jongin was definitely not one of those pups. He would be, if he were a dog, most likely a golden retriever. Maybe? Shixun actually didn't know much about dogs.

"I think your excitement is enough to last for the two of us," he said and shook his head. "You gotta help me out though. I wouldn't know which menu to choose, so I'll let you choose for me. Oh, and it's on me today, since you helped me out with the printing and everything."

@Hun Jongin still had many, many questions about the other's life- What's China like? Which part of China did he come from? Could he teach him mandarin? Could he speak some for him now? Jongin's head was swirling with questions, but not wanting to annoy Sehun, he decided he'd only ask one question every ten minutes from now on, since he had read something online about ten minute bursts in a conversational skills textbook. He wasn't really sure why he had read that, actually.

So holding in his questions until they got onto the bus, he sat down with the other and smiling. "So.." he started, asking his next little question. "Where in China did you come from?"

"My future spouse will probably not exist," he laughed softly, not really intent on the idea of ever getting married. Looking towards the other with a raise eyebrow, she shrugged. "Well, if my partner is as simple as I am, then I don't think they would mind how the photos are taken," he chuckled goofily. Jongin... Really wasn't joking. He was a very, very simple person. He wasn't one for taking photos of everything on special days, he just liked to live in the moment, and maybe take one or two photos. That's why he never understood why people would go to concerts and film the whole thing instead of listening to the music and enjoying it.

Jongin liked it when people touched his hair, and so was very pleased with the little ruffle, looking like a little boy who had just been praised. "I am not like an excited puppy..." he mumbled, even though his previous reaction to both Bingsu and the ruffled hair was very puppy-like. "I really like Bingsu... And I'm even more happy because before that, I get to eat a burger and fries. Aren't you excited? It's fastfood, your first, get excited man!"
Shixun 7 years ago
@jongin "Of course. I needed to be well prepared before coming here," Shixun said, amusement tinkling his voice. Jongin seemed kind of cute with his questions, just like a curious child, but Shixun was sure that if he ever told his new friend that, the other would punch him for it.

He quickly nodded and held up his phone. Just like majority of Koreans, he had put his transportation card into the phone case for convenience. It wasn't the first time for him to visit Seoul either. He had been here on vacation before, and for tourists, too, public transportation - both bus and subway - were the most convenient to use.

"Wow, your future spouse must feel so loved and special on that day to get simple phone picture instead of professional photographs on her wedding day," Shixun said and shook his head, laughing. He wasn't too sure if Jongin was joking, but he assumed. After all, everyone would want to take beautiful pictures of special days to keep for the future, right? Sehun would definitely get professional pictures on his wedding day - that is, if he was ever to get married.

"Bingsu it is then," Shixun said and moved his hand up to ruffle through Jongin's hair as a gesture of affection. It was random, but he had always been a touchy person, using skinship on everyone he felt comfortable with, and Jongin just happened to be one of them.

"You're like an excited puppy," he chuckled, explaining his action. "Are you that happy just thinking about eating bingsu?"
jongin 7 years ago
@Hun "Wow... You did a lot to be able to speak Korean," he said softly, tilting his head and looking up at the clouds in the sky briefly before looking back down and digging through his pocket for his bus card. "Do you have a bus card yet? If not I can pay your fee. I think it's quicker to bus there," he lied, honestly being too lazy to walk. It was approximately three minutes quicker to walk off campus, but a lot more comfortable to take a bus to the main part of the city.

"You can do my wedding photos if I ever get married," he laughed, "Only because that is the /only/ time in my life I'd ever get professional photos done. Ever. Even then, maybe I'll just ask my mother to take photos with her phone," he joked, though he couldn't lie and say there wasn't a hint of truth in it.

Jongin was hoping Shixun would like the food- He wasn't sure what big, expensive feasts were like, which is how he imagined Shixun's family's meals to be, but he could definitely imagine how weird it'd be going from that type of food to street food and fast food. Jongin would honestly take a large, cheap and greasy meal with his family or friends over anything, even a free feed at a five star restaurant. He liked the simpler things in life. Walking through parks for free compared to paying to get into expensive events was his type of lifestyle.

"Yeah! I love bingsu," Jongin exclaimed happily, nodding. "I haven't had any in ages..." he shook his head, thinking about the last time he had eaten a really good Bingsu.
Shixun 7 years ago
@jongin "I took Korean classes and had a native home tutor, too," Shixun explained and smiled. "I studied Korean for quite a long time, but I still have difficulties with the grammar. Words not so much, because there are lots of words derived from Chinese."

"That's why I'm doing fashion photography," Shixun said and chuckled. "I think that's what I'm best at. Taking pictures of people." After all, he had plenty of practice with his mother, He did it for fun at first, but later on she helped him with practicing, letting him take pictures for her to update her social media, and he was their family photographer whenever they went on vacation together, too.

Shixun nodded at Jongin's suggestion and let the other lead him to the fast food restaurant. Humming softly, he found amusement in Jongin's obvious enthusiasm for food that he kind of shared, except, when it came to food, he was more demanding. He wasn't sure if the trip to Burger King would turn out nice. He had to compromise a lot so far, going to the nearest restaurants around him instead of four and five star places only, simply because those were harder to find here.

"Is there a bingsu place or a coffee shop? Let's get coffee and bingsu afterwards," Shixun suggested. "You do like bingsu, right?"
jongin 7 years ago
@Hun "Your Korean accent isn't bad," he chuckled, appreciating the attempt to make him feel better. "You sound foreign, but your Korean is so good that I don't even pay attention to your accent," he chuckled, shrugging. "Where'd you learn Korean, anyway? This is your first day on campus, so you would have had to take classes when you were back in China right?"

Jongin nodded, agreeing with Shixun's statement with a sigh. "I hate ID photos... Driver's licence, student ID, all of them. They're horrible." He chuckled and shook his head.

Jongin's love for food was definitely a strange love. Sometimes, Jongin would eat even when he wasn't hungry - Sometimes he'd even get bored and just start eating to satisfy that boredom. He loved tasting foods and eating with people, food was one of his favourite things, especially now since he's so busy, and sometimes only ever gets the opportunity to eat once in a whole 24 hours, especially at the hospital. Today, he had eaten breakfast, and was about to eat lunch - It was like heaven for Jongin. "I'll take you to a proper takeaway place - Burger King. You can get a meal there, then down the street there's a Gelato place you can get desserts at," he smiled, looking at the other. "I'm the opposite. I don't really like sweet things, I love savoury and spicy foods."
Shixun 7 years ago
@jongin "Thanks," Shixun whispered, his grip on Jongin's shoulders tightening just a little bit. He was glad that Jongin didn't judge him for his family background, and rather than envying him and making Shixun feel bad, Jongin was rather cool about it, too. It made Shixun appreciate the other more, and in that moment, he decided that he would try to be a good friend, too. Jongin seemed like a genuinely good person, so in the future, he would try to help Jongin somehow, probably not so much with money because the other did seem like one of thise prideful people who never accepted other people's help, but maybe by offering his photography services? Or Chinese classes? Surely, Jongin would need him one day, too, right?

"You accent isn't as bad as my accent in Korean," he said in an attempt to cheer the other up. It wasn't necessarily true because Jongin's pronunciation still needed a lot of adjustment, but Shixun, too, still needed to practice a lot to sound less like a foreigner. If possible, he wanted to blend in with the crowd.

"Those photos for ID cards are the worst," the Chinese male said and shuddered at the thought of it. He would hopefully never have to resort to that. If things went well for him, he would only stay with fashion shootings, taking pictures of celebrities for magazine title pages and editorials.

Shaking his head, he could only chuckle at his new friend for being so into food. Of course Shixun enjoyed eating, too, but not to an extent his eyes would light up like that. Unless one was to mention dessert of course.

"Actually, any place is fine, as long as I can get decent dessert around there," he admitted to the other. "I have a sweet tooth?"

@Hun Jongin blinked slowly. Ah, so his intuition was right, Shixun was a rich boy after all. Well, Shixun didn't seem like he'd be one of those stuck up nuisances, so he shrugged and smiled. "You ever heard of lottery of birth? Some of us are just lucky to have parents like that," he said, noting the sheepish aura coming from the man and trying to make him less embarrassed. "It's nothing to be ashamed of, if that's how you feel." Jongin gave a comforting smile and nudged the other gently. "All parents want to help their kids out, it's okay to accept that help." Huh, hypocrite. Jongin needed to take his own advice - The only reason why he was so tight on money was because he was too stubborn to accept his mother's little loans, and would alway send then right back to her, but for the purpose of making a fellow student feel a little better, he'd ignore that part of his life story.

Jongin frowned at Shixun's little snort, though the frown was quick to disappear when the other started to repeat his name, Jongin repeating it afterwards every time. He thinks his pronunciation sounds pretty good, honestly - But deep down in the back of his mind he knew he probably sounded like the biggest on Earth. The pat on his back definitely made him feel a little better about it, though. He'd work at it, especially if Shixun was going to stick around and be his friend.

"Fair enough, I hate having pictures taken of me too," he chuckled. "It's always such an awkward thing, having someone take your photo," he hummed, having a mini-flashback to the day he got his ID card taken. He had the most awkward little smile on his ID card, simply because he was bad at fake smiles. Very, very bad. Even as a kid in photos, he looked constipated. "Being a celebrity would be hard..." he nodded, trailing off as his mind filled with thoughts of food, though he quickly snapped out of it when the other started to explain why he wasn't too pleased with the photo. Jongin definitely wasn't getting it, he thought the quality was fine, but he shrugged, smiling when Shixun mentioned food again.

"Yes! Lunch. My favourite part of everyday." Jongin thought through the options they had mentioned yesterday, humming. "Which one did you want to try, again?" he asked, looking back at the other and smiling a little when he threw his arm around him. Jongin felt like he was getting along well with this guy - He hoped that he was as nice as he seemed, especially because when he had set up his last exchange student at the beginning of the week, at first things were going well, he thought, but Jongin was quick to realise the guy had been talking behind his back in Spanish to other Spanish speakers for about an hour while they sat in the library.

Jongin could definitely say that he hoped Shixun would want to stay friends after orientation day.
Shixun 7 years ago
@jongin Shixun nodded in understanding but quickly shook his head when he realized Jongin might misunderstand him as someone who was studying on scholarship or with help from the government as well. The government would never support someone with a family background like him, and if he were to apply for a scholarship, people would eye him oddly, too. He had parents who loved him and supported him, so there was no reason to apply for any of those programs, especially when his parents were generous enough to buy him an apartment to live comfortably while studying overseas.

"My mom is an ex model, a famous one back home, so she made lots of money, and my dad is still working as one of the country's top architects, so I don't really need financial aid," he admitted and smiled sheepishly. "They fund everything for me."

Somehow, standing next to a person like Jongin, Shixun felt like he wasn't that special all of a sudden. All his life he had been coddled and told how precious and talented he was, only to feel minor now, next to other people of his age who had been working hard to reach their goals on their own, without having to rely on others for that. Shixun wasn't even sure he if he could have come this far without rich parents. If he was born into a middle class family, would he still end up studying in Seoul, wanting to be a photographer?

He snorted at the other's attempt to call him by his name and shook his head, amused. At least the other was trying, he thought to himself and repeated his name a few times, slowing down to help Jongin with the pronunciation.

"Though, I don't mind if you can't pronounce it correctly," he said and smiled, giving Jongin an encouraging pat on the back.

"There's a reason why I'm becoming photograph and not model," Shixun said and chuckled. "I prefer taking pictures, rather than being in the spotlight all the time, so I'm not going to be an ulzzang. It would be bothersome to have people follow you around as if you were some sort of celebrity."

Staring back down at the photography, he nodded. "Well, the picture is okay, but I meant the quality in print. It's... alright. Nothing overwhelming, but I can work with that," Shixun said, knowing that even if he attempted to further explain, it would only bore Jongin who just said he was hungry, so certainly, food was the priority right now.

"Anyways, let's go have lunch. You said you'd take me to a fast food place," Shixun said and stored away the pictures before throwing an arm around Jongin's shoulders, not shying away from skinship.

@Hun "Ah I... Get help from the Government..." he said softly, shrugging. "Don't.. you?" he asked. "Most students do. It's easier this way." Jongin nodded. "I can pay it off later when I get a real job. My sister signed up for a scholarship, but when I wanted to sign up to apply for one it was a little too late," he shrugged. "That's alright though, I'm getting by."

Jongin shrugged. "That's how I see it. If someone you loved was in trouble, wouldn't you drop everything to help them out? That's selflessness to me. No matter if you would do it for three people or millions." Jongin always got a special type of feeling when he helped people. It was an addictive feeling for Jongin, he liked other people's happiness, because it made him feel happy in turn.

Jongin raised an eyebrow when he saw the other's disapproving face and tilted his head. Okay.. Maybe he didn't like the name idea? This was confirmed when Shixun groaned and asked him not to. He nodded slowly, before shrugging. "Well... I don't know... I'll need a little while to think of a Korean name for you. I might even learn how to pronounce your name by the time I think of one," he chuckled. "But okay, I'll call you... Shi..Xun. Shixun." he attempted, feeling like a complete idiot. It was always embarrassing getting things wrong for Jongin, because he was in such a prestigious course, people always assumed he knew everything about anything. That was the only negative he saw in medicine, besides the crazy hours he'd have to put up with. It will all be worth it in the end, he'd tell himself everyday.

"You are pretty," he said softly. "You could be an Ulzzang, you know?" Jongin chuckled and nodded, smiling. "Is that one of you proudest moments?" he asked. "I'd be pretty proud of that too if I were pretty enough to win a female Beauty Queen competition." Sliding his hands into his hands into his pockets he waited for the other to grab his prints, looking up at the ceiling. He couldn't wait to eat- He had been hungry every since the two spoke about food earlier.

Looking down at the prints, he nodded slowly. He had to admit he really didn't have an eye for good quality photo printing, so he tilted his head, replying with. "Well.. Yeah, it looks good to me. I don't know though, I don't really have an eye for art... I guess to someone with an untrained eye it looks good... You don't like it?" he asked curiously.

@jongin "What about student loans?" Shixun asked, genuinely interested. It was because his life was so different that he had all those questions, wondering how normal people could get by. Tuition fees were expensive, and so were textbooks, at least to families with lower income. Even middle class families struggled with tuition fees for one child, so for families with more children it would be even more difficult to finance education for all of them.

"Is it really, I wonder," Shixun mumbled. The definition of selfless - at least what most people thought of when they said selfless - would be those people who would help unconditionally in every situation. Shixun wasn't sure if he could ever do that, jump into any situation to help someone.

Shixun looked up from the printer to stare at Jongin's face with a grimace. He had never liked his name to be shortened for no apparent reason. It just didn't sound nice to him? So even if Jongin mispronounced his name, he would rather have Jongin say Shixun than just 'Shi' or 'Xun'.

"Oh, please don't," he groans. "My name is too pretty, too, to shorten it like that. Can't you go find me a Korean name instead?"

"No, seriously, I'm pretty," Shixun said and chuckles. "I won the title 'Beauty Queen' in my freshman year. My classmates made me crossdress and participate and I beat all the girls, and I thank my mom for that. And nope, I know where my classes are, so take me out for food first."

He took the prints once they came out and examined them, his brows furrowed while doing so. Jongin had to pull him away from the printer to make space for other students, but Shixun didn't notice until he looked up. "It's not too bad quality, I guess," he murmured and showed Jongin the results. "What do you think?"
jongin 7 years ago
@Hun Jongin wasn't sure if he should answer that question, but he guessed it wasn't too weird of a question- Definitely not as weird as the fast food definition was. "Uh.. Not really. I don't make much money off of the internship, just base rates," he mumbled. "I do smaller jobs in-between uni breaks too though," he hummed. Jongin didn't come from a poor family, but one of his worst qualities was how stubborn he was. He didn't want to take loans from his parents at all, and had his heart set on moving out on his own money, no matter how hard it ended up being, and still is.

Jongin smiled a tiny bit and chuckled. "I guess that's one way to put it..." he said softly. Jongin stretched a little until he heard his back crack. Satisfied with his stretch he let off a small, pleased smile. "I would think you're still pretty selfless. Like you said you'd still look after the people who are close to you. Watching out for other people, no matter how many people it is, is still admirable." Jongin didn't know Shixun all too well, yet, but he definitely didn't get that vibe of selfish or egotistic, at least... Not all the time. There had been a few instances where Sehun was a little too much, but he could tell Shixun was trying to work on it.

"No problem," he said in response to Shixun's thank you, reteaching Sehun how to log into the printer with his ID card and then log back out once it started to print. Jongin hadn't looked to see the photos on the screen, so he was a little curious to see what would come out of the printer. "Hey," he said softly, "I'm not sure if you might think of this as a little bit too informal for us since we only just met, but do you think I could just call you... Shi?" he asked. "My chinese is horrible. I still can't pronounce your name," he scrunched his nose up.

Jongin laughed softly at the other's joke and covered his mouth until he stopped laughing, shaking his head and chuckling. "Right, right. I should have known," he chuckled again and rolled his eyes a little, "Did you need me to show you any class locations after this?" he asked, "If you have your timetable on you I could lead you around to every room."

@jongin "You don't have much money to spend, huh?" Shixun asked and shook his head, wondering if that question wasn't too private. He didn't want to seem to be too nosy, but curiosity had taken the better of him. He was not used to keep his mouth when he had questions since his mother had always encouraged him to be curious of everything.

"You want to help people, that's admirable," Shixun explained his thoughts, a soft smile on his lips. "It's not what I could do. I can't live for others and help all the people out there. I just want to take care of the people closest to me and not disappoint them. I'm not selfless like you are."

Shixun wouldn't deem himself an egoistic person, but he never thought about helping all the people in the world either. It was tiring enough to take care of the ones surrounding him and keep them happy, so how much more exhausting would it be to try and please everyone? He didn't have time for that while he was chasing after his dreams.

Once the pictures were sent to the printer, Shixun logged out and unplugged his USB, storing it back in his backpack. If Jongin didn't remind him, he might have forgotten it already, so he said his thanks as he got up and followed the other to the printer, curious to see the result. If the prints turned out to be okay, he might continue printing his works here, otherwise he would go to professional shops.

"One look at me and you should be able to tell, no?" Shixun said jokingly and winked. "People say I take after my mother."

@Hun "Well... I guess you will, it's just that 60% of my weekly budget excluding bills and rent is fifty dollars," he admitted, chuckling softly. "You just shocked me a little, that's all," he smiled, "I guess it's smart to put that much in now and not worry about your balance for a while, I don't know how much printing photography and other art students do... I'm lucky enough where we don't have to print out much in medicine. Just because all our assignments and stuff are submitted online. I only print out the worksheets." Jongin was beginning to sort of suspect Sehun was from a well off family, simply because of the whole cafeteria food comment he made earlier, and the not eating cheap food. Sehun didn't seem to phased about money.

After guiding him through the different printer rooms and which one was the one they were just in, Jongin spun around in circles in his chair, looking down at his shoes with a soft hum, smiling at the compliment. "What makes you say that?" he asked softly as he looked up at Sehun, stopping his spinning and standing up to get ready to head to the printers again. "I just think Korea could use as many doctors as possible, and treat as many as possible. Isn't that what everyone wishes?" he questioned, motioning to the other's USB, which was still plugged in. "Don't forget that!" he grinned.

Paying attention to the other's brief backstory, he nodded slowly and hummed to himself. He didn't judge anyone for what they were passionate about, mostly because Jongin grew up doing ballet and contemporary dance, and was made fun of a lot for being 'feminine'. Dancing made him happy whenever he had spare time, though, so as long as Sehun was happy he had no judgements. "That's a beautiful little story," he said softly. "Your mother must be very pretty."
Shixun 7 years ago
@jongin "Why not?" Shixun asked and tilted his head, eyeing Jongin's facial expression. Should he have gone lower instead? But considering the prices for printed photographs, fifty didn't seem like it was too much. He had several classes, and for each one he would have to create portfolios. He was sure that he would end up spending hundreds for printouts. "I'd use that up sooner or later, right?"

Turning to the computer screen, he typed in his login details and felt relieved when there was a language option here. Changing it to Chinese, he quickly transferred some money from his bank account to his print account before inserting his USB. He quickly skimmed through the folder and chose two random pictures he found looked decent just by their thumbnail and threw them in the print queue, though he had to ask Jongin which printer to choose for convenience because apparently, there were several print rooms here and not just one.

Once done with that he could log off and focus on Jongin next to him. He mustered the other male, chuckling to himself because of course, all medicine students were either after the money or genuinely liked helping people, and Jongin seemed like the latter.

"You're a nice person," Shixun said, wondering if the other would judge him for his rather easy choice of major.

"I don't know," he said. "I grew up taking pictures of my mom. She was a model, but retired once she got pregnant. She loved her job a lot and was sad about leaving it, but she didn't want me to be left alone either, so... I wanted to make her happy and became her photographer. It just stuck with me."
jongin 7 years ago
@Hun Shixun was once again able to shock Jongin. Fifty? Was this guy a millionaire? To Jongin he certainly was. "Fifty...? Dollars? Like... A whole fifty dollars?" he asked softly, eyebrows raised. Jongin moved to pull another chair over to one computer. "Type in your login details," he said softly, patting the seat next to him.

The reason for not having computers in the print rooms themselves was simply because during exam time, it'd cause a massive hold up, and sometimes the lines for the printers would actually spill into the computer labs because of how slow things were. With people just going in to collect their stuff, then going back out straight away, it was easier, and faster. Jongin appreciated the university taking those computers away, honestly. Especially as a busy student who had no time to wait for more than ten minutes, usually.

Jongin was very knowledgable on all the clubs and groups the college had on offer. He liked extra activities, and was in a few things himself, actually. Mostly for the discounts, but it was fun to do things with other like minded people. He was just having a little trouble making friends beyond those groups - He'd talk to people at meet ups, but for some reason they never talked outside of the special events. Jongin felt like things with Shixun was going well, though, and was hoping he would make a friend out of him after today. Today, Jongin was free from everything, and so was a little more relaxed than he usually was. He was thankful for a day where he could just walk around and take with someone, even if this morning was a little rushed, he was happy, now.

Jongin chuckled and swivelled his chair from left to right multiple times, looking at Sehun with a slight shrug of his shoulders. "Whenever I feel like I'm tired and I don't want to do anything, I just remind myself that there are 150 other kids in this course with me, and they're all going through the same stress. If everyone else can do it then I can too. I do medicine because I like helping people. I still need to work on working under pressure well, too, and this internship has really shown me a few flaws like that that I want to work on to become a better person. Helping you today and maybe making a new, foreign friend was appealing to me. Whether I'm interning, or studying or here helping people get used to campus, I'm helping. It makes me happy." He smiled, leaning back in his chair and tilting his head. "Why do you like photography? What makes it so appealing to you?"
Shixun 7 years ago
@jongin He could have easily googled things like these by himself, but where was the fun in that when he was with company? He asked out of curiosity, and perhaps, if Jongin knew, he wouldn't have to look up the definition of fast food. He nodded when the other read it out for him, not really reading what was in front of him on the screen. Jongin was faster in reading Korean anyways.

But his attention was quickly diverted back to a more important matter, and that would be his printing problem. The easiest way to get prints would be a local shop, but Shixun was here as a student, so he wanted to do it the same way as other students did - doing it at school and maybe saving some money like that, even though one dollar per print didn't sound very cheap to him, though wait, that was a print on A4 paper, right? In that case, yes, it wasn't all that expensive.

"I guess I'll just throw on... like fifty bucks and then see how fast it runs out?" He said, looking at the other questioningly, although Jongin probably had even less of a clue on how much money a photography major would spend for their printed pictures. "I think I want to do it online," he added and followed Jongin to the computer labs, finding that a bit confusing since it would have been so much easier to put a machine or computer in the print room, too, so students could easily top up their print credits if they ever forgot to do that beforehand.

The information on the student art guild was new to him. It was kind of surprising that Jongin, a medical student would know about that, but he thanked Jongin for the information. He would have to look that up later and apply for it, not because he desperately needed the darkroom and discounts, but rather, because he was interested in mingling with the crowd. It would be of help to find friends in the same department and not have to bug Jongin for every little thing since the poor guy seemed rather busy.

"How do you even manage to major in medicine?" Shixun asked and shook his head. "It sounds like too much work. You must be inhumane to juggle both studies and the internship along with this buddy program. Why did you sign up for it?"
jongin 7 years ago
@Hun Jongin was a little caught off guard. What kind of question was that? He didn't even know if there was an official definition, this was the weirdest question he had ever been asked. Jongin looked at the other, very confused for a little while before he slowly pulled his phone out, staying quiet as he typed something out. After a while of scrolling he crossed his arms and held his phone up to his face, "Fast food is easily prepared processed food served in snack bars and restaurants as a quick meal or to be taken away," he stated, locking his phone and sliding it back into his pocket with a small smile, though his eyebrows showed that he was still... Extremely confused as to why he had been asked that. "That's... The official definition."

Jongin watched the other take out a USB and blinked, even more confused now until he saw the other pull his ID card. "Uh... Hold on," he chuckled, gently patting Shixun's shoulder. "Come on. I'll take you through the process so you can get the firsthand experience. Do you have a credit card? You can top up your balance online too, which means we can go to the computer labs, top up and send whatever is on your USB to the printers all at the same time. You also won't have to talk to people, which I find is useful on days I don't feel like it." Jongin chuckled softly and lead the other to start heading over to the computer labs. "You can put as much as you like on it," he said, pausing when he walked past a sheet of paper on the wall with the prices. "Though if you want to be precise..." he said quietly, nodding to himself as he ran his finger down the list. "Glossy photo printing is $1.50 per print, and matte photo printing is $1.00 per print." Jongin nodded and looked towards the other. "So you could just put on as much as you need for now."

"Oh yeah, we've also got a darkroom, you know. The student art guild runs it and pays for all the materials. You don't have to be apart of the guild to use the room, but membership gets you into their parties and networking events and whatnot. I think it's like 10 dollars a year for membership card, and the card can get you student discounts on local art supply stores and a few coffee shops." He smiled, continuing to walk towards the lab once he stopped explaining.

"That would make sense I guess, but I feel like not many people would be stupid and try something in a sleeping room. I'd imagine the room would have a few guards going in and out every now and then, too." He shrugged, "I'd like a sleeping place. I have a few catch up classes before sunrise because of my internship, sometimes even really late at night after most classes are done. I'd like to sleep here instead of driving to my apartment. Right now, I just stay in the 24 hour library zone and watch Netflix and sip on coffee until I feel awake enough to drive home," he chuckled with a smile.
Shixun 7 years ago
@jongin "And what's the official definition of fast food?" Shixun asked, not feeling bad at all for firing one question after the other at Jongin. After all, his buddy was here to help him with adjusting to both school and living here, so he figured that it would be best to bother Jongin and not other potential friends. He could annoy Jongin as much as he wanted as the other had volunteered for this job and surely, Jongin wanted to get a certification for that, right? He would only get one after Shixun had confirmed with the buddy program that Jongin did a good job.

Humming softly, Shixun took out a USB stick with a few test shots he had made yesterday. It was only a few pictures of campus life - he certainly was not the best when it came to taking pictures of buildings or moments, but he didn't back down from that challenge either. Since they were here and got the instructions, he might as well try to print something to see if he had actually understood the print system.

"So... I swipe my student ID card here and then?" He asked, puzzled when a new window popped up. He frowned as there was far too much text on the screen. While he might be fluent when it came to talking in Korean, his reading and writing was still lacking. He was a slow reader after all. "I didn't put any money on my print account yet, so where do I do that? I have to do that first, right? How much money should I put on it for now?"

He didn't plan on printing a 3D figurine yet, but kept it in mind for later when he ever needed it. Now that Jongin explained to him, he figured it was a waste of money if he didn't actually need it for classes. He wouldn't really have any use for 3D prints either, unless it was one of those 3D printers that were specifically made to produce gummy bears. He doubted that their school invested in that though.

"It's a women's only university, so maybe it's easier to make sleeping rooms because they don't need to divide them and make sure students don't mix?" Shixun said with a shrug. He didn't necessarily need a place to sleep on campus during day, but rather, he needed timeouts and breaks. Socializing was all fun, but exhausting, too, at some point, so for those times he would like to have a place to hide.
