there seems to be a line that baekhyun cannot break. that silver lining, while some see it as a ray of hope, baekhyun sees it as water to a dehydrated man. it must be opened, it must be showered upon him in his darkest times, to quench his thirst. that silver lining isn't just silver, it's gold, platinum, bronze, and it's everything baekhyun can't get. he's been searching for years for this so-called silver lining, even the tiniest ones do not appear, so baekhyun must make his own.

orpheus, the god that chose to move on, to live on without the happiness he gave up everything for, was no longer with baekhyun. baekhyun is a shell of what orpheus once was, almost like an upgraded version. baekhyun didn't dispose his woes on those who heard, he kept it in. baekhyun didn't display his sorrow to the world, didn't let them hear that he was sad, that he was upset. baekhyun, to everyone else, was never upset, never sad, never anything but a happy and cheerful man. he wore bright smiles coupled with shiny teeth. he showed no sadness. but his eyes gave everything away, they swarmed with grief and strife towards the world once the reason for his depression was said. a woman he loved too much. a woman who was taken away from him just because he had to see her. because he lost his patience and loved her. adored her.

so, he kept living. he could never see her again, but he kept living. he had to. no matter what, he had to live and he had to see her without regrets in his life. he would see her, one day, but maybe not soon.

the cool air is sharp against his skin, as he looks through yonder. today was the end of orpheus. he would exist no longer, the person who sang their woes and everyone knew that he would keep singing his woes. instead of that, baekhyun played them. the stories, the love he shared with his love, his soulmate. they were together, even if her soul was in the sky and baekhyun's feet were on the ground. nothing could separate them because he swears he sees her eyes at night or hears her voice when he plays his lyre.

so he did just that. he played his lyre, but after this, he knew he would never again.

he played a sad tune, slow, light fingers strumming the strings, fingernails tapping the wooden surface. he hummed some notes he pulled from the chords, but there were no lyrics attached to them. because if he sang too loudly, he would never hear eurydice's voice again.
