No offense, but I don't really believe I can trust anyone. As you said, you don't care about me, you might care about Maia but that in no way extends to me.

However, they would think I was playing a game regardless of where I ended up. So in the end, It's back to that same vicious loop where I lose every time.
It really won't matter to you, or anyone else, what I say.
I can't tell you if I'm serious or not yet, it's a bit too early to tell. There's potential to be very serious, but it's hinging on a few rather important details that may not fall into my favor.
Believe that or not, it won't really effect me either way.

I'll start small, a couple of interviews, a few photographs.
Of course my story will appeal to the masses, I'm the ultimate good boy gone bad.
My manager is already talking about movie deals and books.
They'll romanticize my story until I'm the hottest criminal in the country. Most of my work I can do from in here, especially now that I can start earning those 'rewards'.
They could care less about where I am as long as they are still getting new content.

You may well be in here trying to get better, and actually making progress, but I assume you will not take slow progress reports to the media.
Eventually they will get tired so you will need to make progress faster, prove your getting better in an amazing pace
Then people will fall behind you once again and you will be able to leave the reformed man... but will you be?
Progress or no it can take years, even longer to really make progress.
Are you going to leave everyone waiting years.
The second you announce your working on 'getting better' You will start a timer, how long that timer lasts depends on you and a bit of luck.
That is why I said you would be lying about it. Lying about how much progress you had made not whether you were making any.

You know, that is all I hear from every person I've talked to in this place.
It's kind of funny honestly, not a one of you would know if I'm lying or if I'm not.
It's a very guilty until proven innocent mindset, except it's a trap because you can't ever be innocent. If I'm innocent I'm only lying, because the only way I can be telling the truth is if I'm lying.
And round and round it goes.
It's a bit unfair don't you think? You're setting me up for failure by openly admitting there is no possibility I could get better, because even if I did... it would only be a lie.

But... I have been given reason recently to reconsider that as an option, and I'm considering taking a different approach.
One that doesn't deny my guilt, that doesn't require me to lie as much to get out, it might not even require me to lie at all.
I don't really know if you can successfully reform a sociopath, but I have good incentive to consider that as my path forward.
It would be mutually beneficial to both of us if I did. I mean, your institute would be the ones responsibility for my reformation and reintroduction into the world as a changed man.

Given the case was largely circumstantial to begin with, if they could get the confession thrown out there's a good chance I could get the guilty verdict overturned.
I deliberately made sure my confession only stated information that had already been leaked to the public, or information I had been given by the police during the interrogation.
I knew my lawyers would go this route once I was in custody, I'm just glad I chose to come here rather than go to jail.

I haven't made my decision on what direction I'm going to spin the story.
I can't say I like the idea they're proposing, as nice as it would be to try to get my conviction over turned I don't think it's worth going down that route.
As of right now, I don't believe I'm going to go along with their plans. I think I prefer the reformed route, keeps things closer to the truth and I don't have to pretend to be something that I'm not.

Well, I'm flattered to hear that.
It's not without lack of trying on my part, but Maia has rejected me at every turn.
As much as I wish I could tell you there's something going on between us, it seems my wit and charm will only carry me so far with that 'serial killer' label attached.
She's a smart woman, which I'm sure you're well aware of and she's not interested in a pretty play boy. Not that that has stopped me from trying of course.
But her doctor... well honestly how can I compete with that? If you want to talk about relationships with Maia you should talk to him.
