@jeon wonwoo. "see! i knew you wouldn't be left out." she beamed, happy to know her dearest friend might also attend with her. jaehyun, of course, wouldn't leave anyone out; that was just his nature: kind, gentle-hearted, and sincere. plus, he valued her opinion and genuinely listened to her suggestions of who else he should invite.
if sana could smile any wider, she did when wonwoo confirmed his attendance to the party. "oh, wonderful! i was hoping you'd agree to come. as much as i'm sure i'd enjoy myself anyway, i know it wouldn't be as fun without you there, heh." her words held nothing but truth to them. wonwoo's presence always cheered her up and provided a sense of comfort and safety for her.
"ah, jaehyun... we became close in a few of our classes. more recently, our professor paired us up for a project, so i've been spending time after class and after hours with him to work on it. he's sweet! not as sweet as you, though, wonu." sana giggled while gently pinching her friend's cheek. "have you spent much time with him? i feel like the two of you would get along quite well."
@minatozaki sana. Wonwoo pulls his bike to a full stop, jutting a leg out to halt the force and winding up exactly next to Sana. He his head to the right, the rush of the air seems to have bubbled the last few words from his head.
“Frat party? I don’t think I’ve heard from..” He falters, letting the words fall off, and fishes the phone from his pocket, scrolls through the messages that have only recently been sent between the space of traveling and going home.
Ah there it is: Jaehyun has texted him the same exact invite with the same exact words, beginning with a ‘hey!’ and ending with a ‘see u there!’ The frat boy has failed to provide more insight to the party aside from his expectations to see Wonwoo and giving him the precise location of the frat house.
It wouldn’t be too far across from him, Wonwoo thinks. It’d be fairly easy to travel. And looking at Sana, she might be expecting him to come.
Feeling the pull of a smile, Wonwoo extends a hand to ruffle Sana’s hair playfully, “Yeah, I’ll go. But how did you and Jaehyun become close?”
It is a simple question. Nothing much but to fill his curiosity.. and maybe sate his desire to know more and dampen the feeling of a burgeoning jealousy.
@jeon wonwoo. sana nearly toppled off the side of her bike upon hearing a shout of her name coming from behind her. instantly, she recognized the voice: a fairly deep baritone belonging to none other than jeon wonwoo, her dear friend. a friend who also happened to be a longtime crush and wet dream. not that sana would ever admit that, however. as much as she'd always dreamed of something more between them, she didn't wish to risk the relationship they had now.
after pausing and turning around to face him, her features lit up, and she broke into a wide smile that stretched from ear to ear. "wonwoo, hi! i didn't expect to see you here, either. it's definitely a pleasant surprise, though! did your class end early? i thought yours always finished a half hour or so after mine." truth be told, she probably knew his schedule better than she knew her own. "of course, we can ride together! i'd appreciate the company."
as always, him mentioning that he'd been on his way to see her ignited a warmth within the pit of her stomach. god, she was totally head over heels for this man.
"by the way, did you hear one of the fraternities is having some sort of raging party tonight? jaehyun invited me to attend. i thought it might be nice to relax and unwind after a long, stressful week of classes."
@minatozaki sana. The air holds to it a slice of the sunlight, the time during which soft autumn leaves have started sighing and falling onto the pavement, underpinned by the wheels of Wonwoo’s bike. It crunches underneath, a welcoming sound. Everything around him is a testament to the coming fall, hanging in the canopy of the crisp atmosphere that almost always accompanies autumn.
Far ahead, the sun has started receding into the tufted mountaintops beyond Seoul, mapping out its direction from east to west. It’s a beautiful sight, and how he wishes to see it with—
“Sana!” He finds himself shouting, sporting a face-splitting grin that he wouldn’t even be able to hide nor stop should he wish to. After all, it’s the unmistakable figure of Sana, his . . . friend. The vague outline of her body is backlit by the last glimmering beacon of sun rays, and the shadows of the trees above are brushing against the gradient of her cheek. It’s haunting.
And how Wonwoo wishes he can take a relic of this time just to, somehow, memorialize the strange beauty of his surroundings, the haunting feeling of being with Sana during this time.
And has she always looked this beautiful?
“Sana,” he manages to get out despite the knot forming in his throat. He swallows and says, panting, “Didn’t think I’d see you here. Do you want me to take you home? I was just about to go see you anyway.”
That was a lie. He just wanted to find an excuse to prolong his time with her.
