— What era does this roleplay take place in? ;
This roleplay is set in the mid-Victorian era. This means there is steam power and basic electricity, but nothing as advanced as a smartphone or computer. That being said, since this is Wonderland, things might be a little bit more fantastical. For example: teapots that always stay hot and never run dry, fizzy drinks that turn your hair blue, a jack-in-the-box toy with over 1000+ voice lines, and more!

— If this is a fantasy AU is there magic? ;
No, but also yes. In Wonderland there is no magic like controlling elements, spells or incantations, or other similar things. Instead, there is a special Wonderland variety of strangeness. For example, as mentioned above someone may have invented a drink that turns your hair blue. Rather than magic Wonderland has something that is more like a wacky version of science and inventions. Automatons that paint your nails or serve you drinks, potions that can heal wounds and save lives, and even some alchemical practices. If you're not sure about what is and isn't allowed, please speak with an admin about it!

— What is the structure of the Deck of Cards Army? ;
The Deck of Cards Army is split into groups called wings. Each wing has a name (ex. scarlet, vermillion, rose, etc.) and has one general, four commanders, and four sets of thirteen nights (one set for each card suit). An example of a wing of the army is below:

Scarlet Wing
- General x1
- Commanders x4
 - Heart x1
 - Spade x1
 - Diamond x1
 - Club x1
- Knights x52
 - Heart x13
 - Spade x13
 - Diamond x13
 - Club x13

To keep things simple for this roleplay all members of the Deck of Cards Army are part of the Claret Wing.

— Are the knights of the Deck of Cards Army citizens? ;
Short answer, no. The upper levels of the Deck of Cards Army (generals & commanders) are people from the Red Kingdom or Wonderlandian citizens that have been given the position by the Queen of Hearts (and sometimes, though rare, if a knight shows great potential they may be promoted to a commander). However, the knights of the army are not citizens. Instead, they have been created artificially under the Carmine Palace using a combination of alchemy and Wonderlandian science. This is how the Red Kingdom is able to create knights with specific focuses. For example, a healing knight would automatically be knowledgeable about healing and medical practices, while a warrior knight may have more muscle and strength than an archer knight, etc.

When a knight is created they are fully grown. They receive a year of training before they are delegated to their respective wing of the army. Since the Red Kingdom does not recognize knights as people, they are not given names. Instead, they are referred to by their division and number (ex. a heart (healer) knight would be referred to as heart-12). In cases where knights from multiple wings are mingling, their wing title would be attached to their name for specification (ex. a heart (healer) knight from the scarlet wing would be referred to as scarlet-heart-12).

This does not mean that your knight cannot have a name. Many knights choose their own names but do not use them around higher-ups or others as it is against the rules and may lead to their termination from the army.

Also, because the knights can be created, that means they are (in the eyes of the Red Kingdom) easy to replace when needed. If a knight dies in battle a new knight will take their place in minutes. If a knight is deemed too old, or their abilities aren't up to standard, they can be killed by their higher-ups and replaced with a new knight.

— What traits do Beastfolk have? ;
As mentioned in the roles room we encourage you to be creative with this! Beastfolk can really have almost any traits that are considered non-human. This can range from wings to spikes to fangs to fur. They can have a transformation or no transformation. They can look nearly identical to citizens or the furthest thing from a person as you desire.

— What powers do Beastfolk have? ;
This is a little more complicated to answer. Beastfolk don't necessarily have powers like breathing fire or magic or anything like that. They can, however, have abilities such as venomous fangs, spitting poison, shooting spines, etc. Basically, things that animals IRL might have the ability to do. If you're not sure about an ability you want to give to your Beastfolk character, please speak with an admin about it!
