@lee jieun. ᶦᵘ impersonation is never real since you're literally faking to be someone you're not, which is the same as roleplaying, especially in a non-alternate universe setting where you even keep the key points of their biography and persona.
but i do respect your wish not to discuss this any further, so this will be my last response regarding this topic. in the end it's not my decision either but yours as long as it aligns with the administration.
nonetheless i hope you will have a pleasant day or night and i will be looking forward to see you around regardless of your fc.
@namtan tipnaree. impersonation is real. roleplay is fiction, there is in fact a major difference there. if roleplaying was considered impersonation, this website would not be able to exist as it is illegal to impersonate people in the first place. there are plenty of artists who have released actual statements regarding stories, role players, and impersonation alike, LOEN has not mentioned anything regarding stories or works of fiction, or role players and instead singled out specifically those impersonating their artists for monetary gain or harming the reputation of their artists. they released it after someone specifically on instagram pretending to be IU, messaged a bunch of artists and tricked them into thinking it was her.
i am not in the mental state to deal with an argument over the definition of a word though. so i will cc no matter how i feel about it, simply to keep the peace.
@lee jieun. ᶦᵘ objectively there is no difference between impersonating and roleplaying since we use their name, their pictures and their identity without explicit permission and tweak them to our own preference with no regards towards the original faceclaims feelings and boundaries towards it. realistically speaking, most of the time it will fall under the radar of said faceclaim and most of the time it is done without bad intentions, however it is still impersonation. and i think if a real person and their pr team explicitly stated that they do not wish to be impersonated, they should also not be roleplayed. if there are any newer statements regarding this topic from iu or her company, i apologize for my lack of awareness and i hope you do not take this personally as it is only a gentle pointer since the rules state not to.
