I've come across things like this a couple of times in the RP World and one of the things I seriously do not agree with is people telling others what to do and what not to do in RP. It's one thing to suggest that people not to do it but, really, who are any of us to say that another RPer shouldn't be doing a certain something.
There are RPs with killing people. Fantasy creatures. AU and Non-AU. The list goes on. The RP World is meant to be a free range of expression and exploration. You live and you learn through experience, even if they aren't necessarily your direct experiences.
I feel that it's, of course, completely fair to say what you are not comfortable with, the topics, characters, personalities, etc. that you just are not comfortable with. That is your prerogative but none of us are in any place to just say that someone cannot do something just because it's not what you like, agree with, want, etc. You have the option to simply say "I would appreciate it if you wouldn't do that with me" or "I wouldn't like to participate in something like that."
As for myself, I do research on various things, even if it's just personality, to get an idea of what I want my character to be like, their traits, how I want to create their lifestyle, health, etc. If someone is completely in the wrong and portraying something wrong, I see nothing wrong with correcting them but is it really necessary to say that people can't/shouldn't do something when it's honestly no one's place to really do so, unless they are RPing you, of course. Then, by all means, say something.
Otherwise, live and let live. Just give guidance where needed, okay? Let's live and explore and experience together?
