"I thought the scariest thing would be taking my own life..."
"Your life literally flashes before your eyes."
"Yeah..."
"If that's not the scariest thing to you anymore, what is?"
"You."
He didn't know what to say and it felt like there was nothing to say after that. He wasn't used to her being this honest, ever. One thing she never really voiced was how she felt about him and it was clear that she usually liked to keep it that way.
"Have you been drinking today?"
"I wish."
Her response made him even more uneasy. She was sober and was talking like this. He watched her profile for a moment as they watched the sun setting in the sky.
He would never fully realize just how much she missed him and she would never tell him either. There was nothing more for them than what they had.
