+ circus: the defense organization working under the government to protect and fight against kafka and any other criminals that the security force cannot handle. individuals in circus go through extra rigorous training at kuronomei academy under their circus course. joining circus is no small task or burden as it requires individuals to usually separate from their family completely, their family records usually being altered as well. circus members are identified by their Circus I.D. bracelets which only activate upon contact with their rightful owners. the bracelets contain incura and interact with the indivual wearing the i.D. bracelet, which gives them their abilities*, including the ability to fly. the incura is safer in this sense as the interaction between the cell and the circus member's cells are more mediated thanks to the bracelet's technology. too much use of the cell can still have side effects but nothing like the direct interaction varuga have with the cell. they are also known for putting on "circus" shows in cities after they have "raided" the city for criminals. there are two main ships, rightfully named the first ship and the second ship, that usually go out to directly battle with varuga and those believed to be associated with them and kafka.

+ kafka: kafka is initially the result of some former researchers of the research tower that eventually decided  incura could be used to "evolve" humans and their goal is to continuously test that theory, resulting in the number of varuga that have appeared. kafka could be considered similar to an organized crime system such as gangs, the mob, the mafia, etc., but kafka are much more dangerous as the only ones that can truly fight against them are circus and, to a degree, the research tower.

+ varuga: these are simply meta-humans, as well as animals sometimes, that have had exposure to incura, usually through experiments done by kafka. varuga can hold their natural forms, but have the abilty to transform into partial- or full-form varuga. they usually take on an ability* as a result of the post-experiment evolution of their cells with incura. Some of the members of kafka are varuga themselves, usually holding more power, literally, metaphorically, and sometimes both. those that are higher up in the ranks of kafka have better control of their abilities* and have stronger abilities overall - simply making them the more successful experiments. although most varuga are turned of their own free will, there are times where someone is turned into varuga against their will. the main way this is possible is by an individual, whether animal or human, either consuming or being injected with varuga cells, such as through a "vitamin" or needle injection. how it affects one and how quickly it does so depend on the intake amount and on the individual. some cannot handle the process and do not successfully become varuga, resulting in a "failed experiment," to put it nicely. varuga also have to feed on other humans in order to keep their mutated cells generating properly. the ability that all varuga have is extreme regeneration, making them hard for the average person to eliminate; this is also why varuga have to feed on humans.

+ research tower: this is the place were medicine, technology, and overall research meet, hence the name. it works like a hospital for circus members as well since their bodies have different properties from that of an average human, thanks to their jobs and their bracelets. unless under special circumstances, one must attend kuronomei academy and study either the life medicine course or medical arts course in order to make it to the research tower. researchers that work in the tower often go out on exploration trips, including areas where circus has had to raid and/or varuga are believed to be or have been. unlike circus, they are trained more to protect and heal rather than fight.

+ kuronomei academy: kuronomei is a government academy that prepares their students through five courses: the circus course, the life medicine course, the medical arts course, the management information course, and the technology creation course. there is a regular uniform that students must wear and a gym uniform as well. the main rule is that absolutely no one is allowed to leave the school while studying there or else they forfeit continuing their course, although it's near impossible to leave the school with the security system that's in place. there is the possibility of learning another course if something like that happens but, just like escaping, the chances are slim.

-- circus course: overall circus training as well as combat training. it also includes teaching students to battle varuga through extremely realistic simulation training.

-- life medicine course: pretty self-explanatory. one of the courses that involve research and can put a student on the path to working at the research tower. more field and lab research rather than medical.

-- medical arts course: another course that can put someone on the path of working in the research tower. this path is geared more toward the medicinal side of the medical aspects of the research tower, more focus on becoming a nurse, doctor, etc. of the tower.

-- management information course: much like the other courses, this course's name is pretty self-explanatory of what it entails. students in this course are trained in the collection and management of information. they tend to know everything about the school and it's students, as is their job. the students in this course are more likely to be good at simple stealth activies, especially if it requires them acquiring data.

-- technology creation course: another course that is self-explanatory, the technology creation course is for students that want to study circus and research tower technology as well as learn how to advance said technology to be more effective and efficient.
