ok so i just watched alex truelove
its adorable and cute and definitely something good
not as good as love simon but still good
but i wanted to say something
the entire movie i was like ?
i understand the premise of the movie, it’s about gay people try to repress their gay and be straight
but like... rip i’ve seen this trope sooo many times like whaat
we love queer films here and i think this is a good one in the books but like
alex and claire have a great relationship? i always thought it was weird that they literally show him having heart eyes for her and caring for her and having the biggest crush on her but then
he dumps her for a guy? that is there for like a solid ten minutes?
i get that people go through this irl. you thought you cared for someone but turns out you don’t like their gender and you guys remain friends
i think the issue i have with this is that they make alex and claire’s relationship to be so great and amazing and adorable but then ????
the reason why i’m saying this is because of the bi/pan eraser
i heard the term a few times and it’s VERY important
i don’t see many shows or movies based around biual people. sure, gay people need to be accepted i can fully respect that, but biual people have issue and need representation too?
this movie was going in the direction where i thought alex was gonna be bi. like i thought he was going to stay with claire because he loves her and cares for her, but he knows down to his heart that he is also attracted to guys
it wouldn’t be a huge step but it would be a step that i would like to happen? becaaauuusseeee
as someone who is panual i never see movies based around bi/pan people? characters are usually never depicted to be bi and so many people forget that biuality exists.
such as kpop idols
one time i heard a rumour that yuri from snsd was gay
i mean that would be great! but people wrote off this because she had a boyfriend before
like? she can’t be gay obviously but she could still be attracted to women?
i just think people don’t really remember biuality is a thing and it kinda pisses me off
i do think the movie was great i just think they either needed to make it obvious that alex was playing himself (i feel like they were trying to do that oooohhh you thought he was straight? nope he’s gay trope and just ruined it) or spend a bit more time showing alex and elliot’s relationship because that barely had any growth and i would’ve liked to see tht
anyways i recommend you watch it regardless also we stan love simon all i want this year is a wlw movie and i’ll be haPpyyyyy
