I talked to my boss today, which is a huge thing for me because I basically NEVER see this boss. But I was talking to her about possibly changing an email policy of ours and at first, she strong-armed and was like "No, it's not going to change" and then she finally asked why-- YOU KNOW WHAT. HERE.
bangyg: Hey, do you have a moment to talk?
boss: About?
bangyg: Our emails. I was told we couldn't access our emails on our phones, and we could only check them at work?
boss: That's true, you aren't supposed to check it off duty.
bangyg: Even for weekend staff?
boss: Yep, only on duty or else we'd have to pay you for checking and responding to emails.
bangyg: Is there a way we could change that? Could I just volunteer that time?
boss: No, there's not, it's the work policy.
bangyg: Ah okay. I was just wanting to see if it would be a possibility.
boss: Why do you want to change it?
bangyg: Well currently we are only able to check it when we come into our work. I usually work Saturday and Sunday, very occasionally Monday and Friday mornings before anyone else' days begin. So I usually miss what is sent out during the week. I get the newsletter almost a work week late and it just isn't ideal for me when I like to keep up on what is going on. Also, that is how lockdown alerts are sent out so if we are in a lockdown situation, we would have no idea and we could be walking into a dangerous situation. It's kind of just nice to just receive notifications on what is happening, like today we have Open House with the nachos and I wouldn't have known that if I didn't set up my email.
boss: *Nodding head slowly* How about I bring it up to my supervisor in my meeting and I will let you know when I get a response? You raise very good points... But you may have to volunteer that time.
lowkey, I feel awesome for possibly making a difference. don't mind me just being a workaholic.
In other news, I'm still sick.
