backstory
"they will believe what they want."
the legend
Her story is foggy and she prefers to keep it that way. The truth is that she doesn't quite remember all the details of her life. It feels it has been far too long to be able to clearly recall every detail but there is one thing that never leaves her mind: the night her life was renewed. She remembers growing up poor in a village on the shore that, one night, was terrorized where some lived and others did not. In the beginning, she couldn't figure out whether or not to consider it a blessing that she was spared for lack of a better term. Over the years though, throughout her new life, she has grown accustomed to it and has adapted very well, to the point that she even became a legend among men.
Her birth name is one that she's forgotten as she hasn't heard it called in centuries. Out of the many names that she's been called, such as "Lady Divine," "Ghost of the Nightly Waves," and "Midnight Specter," one has stuck for as long as she can remember: Vesperum. She isn't sure if that name was given by the ones that altered her life forever or if it was her birth name but it's what she's chosen to go by for ages.
Used to no one wanting her or misjudging her, she's used to being alone. After being taken prisoner one day after trying to stowaway on a ship or at least steal some food since they had so much, she found herself soon taking out the crewmen one by one. She was going to get a meal one way or another. Ridding the ship of men, she did keep the captain for herself, learning what it meant to man a ship and maneuver the seven seas. Once she was done with him, she left him on land and set sail herself. It took time but she began to lead a crew of women only, women tossed aside for one reason or another, left abandoned by those that supposedly once cared for them. The crew became known as The Moons while their ship was The Rose. They targeted men ships and devoured them with ease, giving them to the sea they claimed was their mistress and secured their hauls. They were feared, though very few lived to even carry on the stories about them.

The Crash
They expected to kill her and her crew. They thought it would be easy. Like many others, they knew the name of the ship and the name of the crew but had no clue what they were really getting themselves into. Among this ship's men, one in particular seemingly wanted to disappear from the lifestyle of a pirate and had pleaded with the pirate queen to spare his men, although he wasn't the captain and although the other men knew nothing of this. This one time, The Rose's crew, specifically the pirate queen, opted for taking the men hostage. They became slaves to the ship and slaves to the crew, though their power was nothing over these sirens of the sea anyway; These same sirens that had clearly been underestimated yet again. It would never be clear whether it was in the men's plans or not to be captured, though they definitely had hoped to be spared one way or another.
A secret infatuation began to brew between the one crew member that had secretly pleaded with the pirate queen and Vesperum herself. His love for her drove him to even threaten his own men and act out against them, even slamming a sword into a table, to make sure they did nothing to hurt her. It didn't happen just once but multiple times. With that, she made him a promise as well as one to herself that she would do everything in her power to protect him, even if it meant making him an immortal just like her. Then again, when his men rose up against him, it was all that she could do to save his life while they were out at sea.
One day their ship crashed, sabotage of the men on the ship, and it separated them. All of the women of The Moons' crew were immortals and would live, though most of them were unconscious for quite some time. Though some of the men ended up unconscious as well, they ones that were simply injured by the crash were able to get away. Left in unknown territory, the men had taken a life boat and escaped while the women stayed to repair their ship, their home.

lover
"For there is no one like you..."
your love has always been unlike any other. across the vast seas i have traveled for eons, yet there is no one like you. your timid heart and courageous soul make you a hazard unto those around you but also to yourself. i am sure you heard the stories about me, the tales they have woven through time to scare their children at night. yet you came to me. you opened your heart to me and have protected me time and time again. centuries have passed since our first encounter on the seas but, i swear to you, my love, i will find you again and you shall be reunited with me. you will be returned to my side, right where you belong, and no one in this world shall dare separate us ever again. wait for me.

Present Day
"I will right their wrong."
Present Life
Not much about her has changed over the years, even from her actual birth, besides the fact that she has much more money than she was born into as a child. In present day, she owns a high-class, upscale apartment building that her and her coven all live in with her living in the penthouse. She works a simple job in a convenient store just to keep some income still coming in, although she doesn't need to work at all, considering how much money she has alone, and even if she didn't, her coven would gladly take care of her without a second thought. She is on the hunt for the love that was taken from her, knowing that he's still alive somewhere, especially considering immortals cannot be killed easily, if at all.
Significant Features
She always has her hair in dreadlocks, which now reach her waist, and there's always at least one moon charm hidden among them. She always wears a moon pendant around her neck, even in present day, just like the rest of her crew always has. Also, just like the rest of her crew, or more accurately now, her coven, she dons a black outline of a crescent moon tattoo on the inner side of her right wrist and a white one on her left, as well as a trio of stars down the back of her neck; the tattoo on her nape is different from those in her coven as her top star is the largest, representing that she is queen. At night, her eyes go from deep brown to a midnight blue color, looking similar to the night sky full of stars.
Personality
The Moons became her family and she's extremely protective of them. She'll always believe them before she believes anyone else and she knows that she can dwell on them always telling her the truth as that's one thing she's always made them promise her as she is incredibly honest and transparent herself. She keeps to herself when she's not around the Moons, living more as a recluse and a silent soul, to the point that most people believe she is mute. She enjoys a good read, having yet to really explore other types of art but is trying different mediums as she goes along.
Style & Appearance
Far from flashy, she still tends to wear more upscale clothing, keeping herself dressed more elegantly yet in flowing, bohemian attire. She loves to wear accessories, mostly bangles, slave bracelets (bracelets that have rings attached), and woven bracelets. She's considerably short, the shortest among her coven. Besides the few tattoos she has that tie her to her coven, her family, she doesn't have any others and will not get any others. She has her ears pierced but usually wears at least one ear cuff although she usually is wearing a cuff on each ear. She also tends to wear anklets quite often as well.
