When he was quite young, Youngjo was a victim of a hit-and-run along with his father. While Youngjo had initially lost majority of his hearing due to the accident, his father almost lost his life trying to protect that of his son. Thankfully, both of them survived and recovered well and pretty quickly. Due to his hearing disability growing up, he was bullied a lot and it led to him deciding to be mute, even towards his nuclear family. Once his parents and sister surprised him with a puppy, his baby Sunny, he began to talk to them again, although still not as much. Over the years, with the support of his family and through the hard work of doctors, he's gotten back most of his ability to hear.
Another form of support and relief that helped get him through even the toughest times with his disability is books, mostly fiction, which has led to him being passionate about his book store, Paperbound. He opened it up with the idea of wanting to share with the world the comfort he found in books. It worked out for him that he found a block in the city where he's the only bookstore within a decent amount of miles from the next one. This past year, he's finally taken in an employee, Seoho, who is almost as quiet as him and as shy but is much more likely and willing to interact with the customers, especially considering Youngjo is still selectively mute for the most part. Seoho has become a really good friend and pretty much Youngjo's only friend, considering he's the first person since Youngjo opened up Paperbound three years ago to accept Youngjo for the way he is and not push him or talk about him behind his back.
Recently, a few newer shops have opened up on his block. The first to open up was a flower shop, In Bloom. He's had a very big crush on the owner, Donghun, pretty much since they first met and, although Youngjo isn't really one to speak, he's made it very clear that he's interested with various and numerous romantic gestures. Lately though, he's taken a liking to a new employee that's started to work at the adult shop, Into Love, just down the block from him, especially since he doesn't want to continue pestering Donghun when the other is taken (and seemingly quite smitten with his boyfriend). He's learned that the new kid on the block's name is Hwanwoong and just happens to be someone that was an underclassman at an academy he used to attend. The two of them actually knew each other pretty well, too, though they haven't spoken since grade school. Youngjo does hope that they can get to know each other all over again and get even closer than friends as well.

personality
Youngjo is very quiet, well, selectively mute to be exact. Despite avoiding talking in any situation that he can, he's still extremely friendly and is almost always seen wearing a smile. He tends to wear his emotions on his sleeve but tries to focus on the positive whenever, wherever and however he can. After all that he's been through, Youngjo can't help being the extremely positive individual that he is. He wants to bring life, light and love to everyone around him, even to those that are blatantly mean and vicious; he very strongly believes that a little bit of love can go a very long way. He's fine with not having really any friends, although he does consider Seoho to be a friend and is extremely thankful and happy to have him as one, let alone be considered a friend by him as well.
