as it is the now the new year (5 days in lol), I would like to explain how korean aging works! I know it can be very confusing, I know I was confused at first too. but once it clicks, it's pretty easy to understand
so basically, koreans are born as age 1, unlike other places born at 0. so, no matter what time of year, your korean age is 1 year higher than your actual age.
where it gets a bit more confusing is that koreans actually consider their age to change every new year. so if you were born new years eve, you would be 2 years old the next day in korean age.
so to give an example, I am currently 19 years old. in korean age, I would be 21. once my birthday hits, I would be 20 internationally, but still 21 in korean age.
if you ever want to know your korean age, here is the simple math equation!
if it is before your birthday: your age + 2
if it is after your birthday: your age + 1
hopefully this was useful or even just interesting knowledge to know!
edit: thanks to user exhaustion for further explaining this topic for me in the comments!
