The souls of the departed, as we all know, are reused throughout time. However, about five centuries ago, the spirits of the dead have been fragmenting, resulting in all new spirits. It was when this started that demons began escaping from Prold, the world of the Draeteri. The Draeteri are the demons that cause nightmares. They began captivating some of the new souls, infusing their own into it. The Draeteri wanted only one thing: to take over our world and make it one of their own. For awhile, humans stood defenseless against the threat of these demons. However, some of the Draeteri that had been terrorizing the people began to mate with humans they took special notice of. This new species was a powerful one, surpassing the strength of the already mighty Draeteri. Soon enough, they began to see the horrors of what their Drae parents had done. Disgusted with the demons, they called themselves by a new name: the Nakrai, meaning “neither” in the Drae tongue. Soon enough, an all-out war was called between these two species in our world. Stalemates have been called, and times of peace nearly grasped, but the burning hatred for each other always won out. Today, they still fight each other, in the dead of night where no one can see their affairs.
