First of all, I will be reporting on my characters, ryu songmin and hong soyeon.
ryu songmin -- the seemingly stoic high ranking military general who is committed to his job, but not so much to his relationships. despite this, he has a clean image with the public (due to lingering effects of former Confucianist rule), though lady mugunghwa is aware of the impurities that belie the good boy image. he saved face for so long, it is bound to crack soon.
hong soyeon -- daughter of the sangmin clan known for its shrewd and dynamic merchants. though not a merchant, she worked her way up to being the breadwinner of her family, not through "generational wealth", but through good quality silks. although a sangmin, she exploited the resources her family gathered through trade to make clothes outside of her "fixer" responsibilities and is connected with a number of jungin and yangban due to this skill, though her needlework is not up to par with the best dressmakers in hanyang.

the sangmin clan were known for being traveling and dynamic merchants, specifically as peddlers (bobusang). they represented the power of collective action and cunning that comes with safeguarding their interests (proper rations of food, silk, other goods, preservation of five day markets) against the government that skews towards demands from the leisure class before queen min’s proposals for total abolishment of the caste system. despite their low social status, they were the middle men in connecting consumers and producers.

Why You Should Join:
- based of the High Society in Joseon, though common and lower class people are allowed to mingle with the upper classes as well (thanks to Queen Min)
- if you're a er for historical au's set in joseon dynasty era and bridgerton this rp is basically a lovechild of them
- instead of being ruled by a king like most dynasties (bc men right), the overarching ruler is Queen Min (who is a girlboss) who fights for equality and seeks to abolish the caste system
- the clan system allows for further collaboration with others and can bridge the gaps between fellow peers and rpr strangers
- speaking of clans, you can easily find attractive people to mingle with from different clans (or even get into scandals and be center of gossip)
