I feel like RPR needs a wellness check

How are we feeling today?

1-10

Feel free to answer these questions below.

Do you think rpr is too far gone in drama?

Do you feel bias exists within rpr?

If you could change something, what would it be?

Deep exhale, unclench your jaw, relax your shoulders and take care of yourselves physically and mentally.

i really wish people who have been here for a long time wouldn't create rules for the entirety of this website like they created this . and they have minions who just smile and nod, like grow a backbone.

oh and to add on to one of the things i'd change, how people treat non aus especially. there was a point in time where non aus could last over 6 months, but now a lot don't even make it past a month of being open cuz everyone flocks to the newest/most active place. i know non aus are basically just discord chat rooms with idol faces at this point, but for me it's exhausting to even think of being in multiple non au rps when they're all basically the same handful of 30-40 users with the same handful of faceclaims. and they all die bcs everyone moves with their groups.

1. rpr has always had, and always will, have drama. but i think people tend to blow drama WAY out of proportion or prolong it to unnecessary lengths. one thing can happen and then suddenly everyone and their hamster is making a blog post about 1 or a small group of people. these things are best dealt with quietly, imo. don't draw more attention to people causing trouble - just deal with it then and there.
2. bias has always existed, always will. i remember people would ship chase/face chase, people still do that. people join rps with their groups of friends, take the same fcs, and mostly talk to only those people. non au crowd all knows each other, au crowd all knows each other. the userbase hasn't grown for years, it's only gotten smaller, so ofc there's bias - i'm not even free from it, either.
3. i'd fix the site's janky code with my own bare hands. i'm sure people would love to kpop rp, or whatever rp, but the site is very not user friendly, so if you're new, you basically need someone to hold your hand on how the site works. idk, maybe if the site had bigger userbase, things wouldn't feel so... suffocating on here.

7/10 as of this moment. how about you?

quite often, drama on rpr is unnecessarily stretched out when most times it truly does not need to go that direction. some need to understand whether they are contributing to the situation or adding fuel to the fire. there would be less drama around if boundaries are set and people are clear and transparent but most times it unfortunately doesn't happen. i think especially so in nonaus where lines between ooc and ic are oftentimes blurred.

to say that there is no writing/barely any writing going on here doesn't make much sense to me. i say, those people aren't looking at the right places. sure, nonaus are mostly chatrooms with a sprinkle of writing but there are those who are trying to write in said rps. aus are perfect to find a hub of writers who actually want to dive deep in creativity. there is a lot of potential on this site that should be appreciated. what other site makes it this easy to have multiple characters on one account? if there was a collective effort to better the community and if nichiren added some features here (dark mode, mobile friendly vers, etc), i think it would be a home run. nothing is perfect but it's good to improve. we also need to put the effort in making places grow as writers, admins, and in general users of this site.

there's quite a few au roleplays that encourage creativity and writing + new ones that are releasing soon. these are the few off the top of my head: ilhwa, fabletown, cat town tales, golden fleece, and the new harry potter rp set to release soon. also when it comes to au roleplays, it needs to be understood that it won't be as fast paced as a nonau. there is creativity being fostered by everyone involved and creativity requires time for many. iirc, there were a bunch of people that mentioned maple street, a nonau roleplay, was one of the few that encouraged writing. imo, i think it's a bit awkward to pm and ask people if they want to write at nonaus (like the older days of rpr). for the longest, nonaus have primarily become a chatroom so i'm not sure how to navigate that part and make a change that would last.

private roleplays are another way to get writing in. there are plenty of individuals here who have great ideas and want to find new writing partners. i encourage people to try it out if they haven't already.

- It most certainly has gotten way too deep with the drama. As pacifico stated this place went from a writing experience to people integrating themselves into their characters and even if people deny it, it's true. I for one am guilty for having done that before and kinda still do, but I'm learning to separate the two now. Not just for my own mental health but also for the respect of my muses. People have mixed IC and OOC so much that it's caused riffs in their actual OOC friendships with other users on here. So much that when someone else's character upsets theirs or have other IC issues they then recruit their friend group in hating this one person. I honestly don't know when or how this all started, perhaps it's because of the creation of an IC chatroom (that's not even IC most the time) because I remember how no one was in a chatroom if it was included, everyone stayed on walls or personal rooms. IC and OOC mixing has gotten so bad to the point that this all feels like a high school popularity contest and it's honestly so sickening. Now there's nothing wrong about being upset or saddened about an IC situation, we're only human and sometimes we can't help but feel bad and empathize with our characters. However, there is a very fine and obvious line between IC and OOC.

- Bias most definitely exists here and it's clearly obvious who likes who more and who gets special treatment. Once again RPR has become a high school popularity contest.

- Actual roleplaying more. Especially in AUs, because of the aspect of non-aus I feel like any AUs are only there for a week, people spend their time talking in OOC chat about their characters and making up scenarios. Like if you're doing that already just rp it out. I get so frustrated when I put in effort for an AU character and no one rps then the place ends up closing. It's not fair to those who wish to actually roleplay, it's not fair to those like me who put in effort to make an AU character, and it's not fair especially to the admin(s) who open the place.

2/10 tbh
I miss when rpr was about actually rping now it’s just a giant discord server with idol DPs. Rping is as good as dead on this site or from what I’ve seen since I’ve been back. Bubble rping was a problem then and it’s a problem now I don’t think it’s going away unfortunately.

feeling ok… honestly this whole thing hasn’t really affected me too much, as i rarely join many rps especially nonaus and i have a lot of other personal drama going on elsewhere that is taking up my mental space… but then again im not really in a ton of rps where id be affected anyway so lol. i feel like its a little tired now but maybe that’s just cuz im not affected lmaoo i know they’re causing drama and chaos wherever they go but… idk. as others have said, there’s no need to make multiple blogposts.

feeling 8/10 because i've been keeping myself busier with hobbies. it's the stress relief I didn't know I needed outside of writing.

1. yes. it went from being a fun writing experience to a place people have become parasocial, tying their characters connections and everyday occurrences to themselves and cutting off ic & ooc ties at the emotional expense of a failed ship. It's happened to me before with one or two ships so I feel I can speak on it. it should never ever come down to that. other current issues involve not being able to trust who you write with now because there's people outright lying about their age in order to . that's extremely dangerous to all parties involved.
2. depends on the kind of bias, but bubble rping is definitely a thing. and I might be part of this because I'm prone to being in a semi-lit bubble or space, I like goofing around but also having the opportunity to also start long threads with anyone capable of writing multiple paragraphs and or diving into novella. so slight bias in that sense.
3. and lastly, live chat. I'd disable it and the expectations that an rp is alive simply because a number of folks are posting all at once on any given day. silence is okay, people are busy and got a lot of going on. slow rping is okay, so is leaving a reply for another day so as long as there's some communication there between both rpers.

and thanks for the reminder. really appreciate it sweets <3

I'M PMSING SO EVERYTHING IS PISSING ME OFF AT WORK HI

anyways, rpr drama always goes too far! i've been the target of rpr's trademarked witch hunts multiples times! :D the most recent case from like last year still haunts me and i still have people blocked so i can have some space from them without having to spell it out! honestly, the rpr mob mentality never fails to accuse people based off scattered screenshots without first hand interaction and proof. one person shares a screenshot in a group chat and it spreads like wildfire between cliques with unbased rumors and theories running amuck. honestly, in regard to the drama surrounding the underaged user, i don't even care if the rumors of them being underaged are true!

this user has created a hostile and uncomfortable environment in multiple roleplays for many friends who gave them a fair chance to get along with others and frankly i don't feel like defending them regardless of how baseless i think the rumors are because i had to deal with them first hand and even let them know how their behavior was unwarranted with no acknowledgement from the user that they did any wrongdoing and no attempt to change. i genuinely wanted to have a discussion with the user to get their perspective but was met with silence. (this was far before the situation imploded) we've given this user ample time and space to explain themselves and this happened because we collectively lost our patience. granted, i think the witch hunt is unwarranted and harmful to others that get caught in the crossfire, but i don't think it's a complete overreaction on our part.
