this probably isn't the best place to ask but i'd highly appreciate if you could spare some of your honest thoughts, whether or not you know me and/or have written together with me (or seen my writing?).
basically i am now in a position where i can start preparing to accept writing commissions, which i've always wanted to do for the longest time. the thing is i don't see it often (especially when compared to art comms) so my frame of reference on how to do things is shaky at best, hence why i want people's opinions on this!
i have a few points to consider before accepting commissions as i want to be fair to myself and my potential clients, all which i've formulated as questions below:
- what are you most likely to commission a writer for? (shipping fics, character/reader fics, oc stories, poetry, etc.)
- if commissioning for fics, are you willing to commission a writer for sfw (non-ual) fics?
- how much are you willing to pay for a writing commission (let's say per 100 words of prose in usd), assuming you have the funds to do so?
- would you consider commissioning a writer whose works you have never/don't regularly read, if they have writing samples readily available?
- would you commission a writer to write for fandoms they aren't too familiar with (but is willing to do research for), if you enjoy their writing?
feel free to answer all or only some of the above questions — or if you have more to add, definitely be my guest, especially if you've commissioned someone and/or accepted commissions for writing before!
